Air condition!

I like to refill my air condition.It`s an `92 SE.Lotus use R12 for their air condition which is not longer allowed to refill in my country.Are there any alternatives?

True, R12 is no longer environmentally-friendly (or $$-friendly) since it's patent expired, so R134 is they way to go as it's easily obtainable. There are some upgrade kits that exist which may or may not work. In general, you need to flush the system to get the old oil out, in some cases replace the seals as they may react with the new freon/oil, put adapters on the high/low pressure valves (R134 systems have different fittings) and evacuate/recharge the system. Of course, you should replace the receiver-dryer and maybe the expansion valve while you have the system open.

I converted a 1992 190E 2.3 to R134 a couple years back and it works fine, but doesn't blow quite as cold as the R12 did. Hope this helps....
