These one day meetings are good fun. Interesting to see that the Karts will be there as well. Expect to see Nathan Freke!

It's all gone very quiet on here.

You would nearly think there was a secret private Tuscan drivers forum or something.

So, is there going to be a Challenge next season or not????

I am sure all the fans are interested to know.

I know I am.

Didn't get back from Oulton park until 1:00 am this morning, bloody truck, still racing was fun, and No:6 was sporting the new look racing Tuscan, back end completely missing , his car is now only 10 ft long.

In short, and it must be the case for now as we have all been told to keep quite about plans for 2005, Yes, TVR do have plans, and seem to have had a major change of heart towards national racing, all that can be said for now is that Tuscans will be racing in 2005 and if the plans I've heard come to be, then all of us drivers/teams and as importantly, all you TVR owners, racefans, pistonheaders etc will be in for a treat.

There is a whole pile of work to do to make things happen, so don't expect to hear to much news for a while, but it seems that TVR have the will again, and have the bit between their teeth once more, we'll see.

Wow - I will keep my fingers crosse for all you boys.

Don't want my cake making efforts to go to waste.

Any requests for Brands Hatch? Made an Apple Cake this weekend - Mr Big has nearly scoffed the lot.

No 6 here, and as Uncle Rodney correctly commented, my car is now about three feet shorter than it should be.

I had a little 'moment' in qualifying. It involved a number of ingredients - heavy rain, the end of the start finish straight, brake bias too far to the rear, me missing my braking point in the spray and ended with Mr Tuscan being introduced to Mr Tyre wall at, well not sure really, but as I was in 4th gear at the time - so probably around the 80mph mark. Backwards

I am pleased to report that No 6 gave a very good account of himself and gave at least as good as he got. He made mincemeat of the tyre wall, and had a bloody good attempt at flattening the armco behind. The poor chaps in the orange suits spent around half an hour pulling the posts straight with a JCB.

No 6 was of course, slightly winded by the experience.

Actually, who am I kidding, he was ed. The rear of the car wasn't just damaged - it had disappeared - totally destroyed from the roll cage back. There was nothing left behind the rear wheels

So that was that, day over before we even got going

Bugger, bugger, bugger......

....of course my Tuscan mishaps never really end like that do they?

The car was dragged back to the garage and a small crowd gathered to commence the period of mourning - and after that 10 seconds was over, take the p1ss out of me

Uncle Rodney gave me a slap (literally), and I made a few half hearted comments about it polishing out, and told Steve not to be so defeatist.

Then something quite remarkable happened. John Reid (TVR race manager) and John Ward (TVR chief scrutineer) appeared and said that if we could fix the broken suspension and somehow cover the back of the car, we could race.

Another inspection of the car revealed no chassis damage - the right rear upright and wishbone were destroyed and the driveshaft pulled out of the diff - but other than that (and half a dozen rose joints) - we might, just, be in business.

Steve and Abi set about the mechanical bits and Simon (Leven Technology) and I rigged up some brake and rain lights on the roll cage. After that we used two entire rolls of gaffer tape and created something which was a cross between a Ford Ka and a BMW M Coupe. At this point we need some pictures - no doubt some will appear shortly.

The clerk of the course paid us a visit and was not entirely happy about TVR's first open wheel race car competing in a closed wheel sports car race - but it was decided that if all the drivers were happy for me to race (and sign to that effect) then we were in. Everyone signed. The CoC told me he would throw me out if I didn't come last (miserable bugger)

Of course we were not at all sure that the car would make a single lap - but, well, you have to give it a go, don't you?

Well against all odds, I got a 6th and a 7th - quite incredible when you consider that we were about to pack up at lunchtime. The car actually handled pretty well (which is a bit strange as today we found that the top mounting bolt on the rear left shock absorber had snapped).

Quite an amazing day - and I must thank Steve, Abi and Simon for their hard work, the two Johns for calling in some favours to get me out, plus all the other drivers for agreeing to let me race. Not forgetting Uncle Rodney for his words of encouragement and letting me beat him. Twice

We now have a race against time to fit a complete new back end before Brands Hatch in less than a fortnight....

Good Grief Andy......

Sounds like a torrid time, but it's surprising what can be achieved when everyone pulls together.

6th & 7th under the circumstances is brill ....good on you mate.

Glad to hear that TVR are having second thoughts......had heard along those lines.

Looking forward to Brands, when there is always a huge Kent/Essex/Suffolk turn out.

And...er.....what's this...........No 6 in pieces but still beat Uncle Rodders......

TWICE....

...and there will be news when there is something definite to tell - direct from TVR. As Rod has said, there are positive moves afoot, but that is it as yet.

There is a Tuscan drivers forum - is that a big deal?

It's true, the little whippersnapper beat me in both races, never got anywhere near this time. Mind you, I did have to start at the back of the grid again, but that was because I refused point blank to drive at anything over 40mph in the wet qually session.

In the first race, No:6 No:8,(PW) and I were on wets, WRONG!!!! I saw Andy go in after the first green flag lap, and as he's still racing for points and prize money( he needs the money more then ever now), and I'm not, I went on for another lap and came in as everyone else formed up for the race start. They were just finishing No:6, so he was able to join up with them from the pit lane, just after the ambalance, I lost two laps so had no chance, but it was still fun, even on my own

In race two, I'm at the back again!!!!, this time PW and the rally driver, Arnold studebaker, or whatever his name was, played bumper cars and being a sensible chap, I held back and waited for them both to go off. It didn't happen, and it took me 3 laps to get PW and another 6 or so to get Arnold, (he's the new TVR test driver you know, great mates with NS). I could see the boy wonder some way ahead, and set about hunting him down with some success, but it was hard work catching the "light by 50kg" new model Tuscan and then............ I got tied, I must have done 15 plus laps, and the chequed flag was firmly in it's box, christ, how long was this race going to be, I was running out of fuel!!! so I backed off in an effort to get my heartbeat down to around 180, and stop an otherwise imminent heart attack

So no holds barred at Brands, he's mine

Poor chaps indeed Andy, your introduction was certainly the most devastating but by means not the last that day. We had three other unfortunates also on Saturday.

Seriously though, it was good to see you were OK (relatively), and even better to hear you were going to race. The car had a definate look to it (could this be the new look for 05?). One of the marshals christened it the "Saggy Nappy"

But what was this new aero-dynamic speedster? after starting from the pit lane proceeded to take PW and then a certain 27 along the avenue with such ease (now we know why). As for the second race you were flying and I am sure given another lap or two would have passed No. 10, Tim Hood.

A truly awesome display mate

Must also mention the fantastic racing between L.C, D.M and P.K in the first race. It's what Tuscans are all about.

Cheers Steve - a pretty remarkable outcome all told. The car felt great in race 2 and the tyres were absolutely spot on - I wanted a few more laps!!

Sorry to put you guys to all that trouble!

Strap me down boys I got a bite !!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry chaps, I couldn't resist it, see jamesc, they rise well in the rain.

jamesc, I forget to tell you I was phsycic.

griff2be, your accident was predicted about 48 hours before the event, in print too.

So nobody at TVR told us about this new "shortwheelbase" model being introduced did they?? Think of all the fibreglass that could have been saved if it was introduced earlier.

Next time someone tells Andy "it needs new tyres on the back", tell hime to get them from Dunlop and NOT off those piles on the outsides of the corners, the fitters are just soooo damned rough.

Anyhoo, just good that Andy was ok and managed to race too, quite succesfully as well. (Did you weigh it Andy???) Another testament to the wonderful world of Tuscans and all who participate in their many different ways.

Look forward to the brave new age next season then.

Just looked at the Oulton pics of No6 after the reverse parking manouvres went wrong.

Has someone parked a Caterham and a Tuscan racer in a dark garage during the mating season ????

It looks awfully like a hybrid that does. Will it ever catch on ?????
