I was away on holiday last week and missed the Italian GP. I believe though that Schumacher overtook Jensen Button towards the end of the race to take second place. Whats's going on?

In all seriousness did I miss a good race?

It was "good" by modern F1 standards - but not really "good" in general motor racing terms.

Immediately after the GP, ITV showed highlights of the Goodwood Revival - what a contrast?

Regarding Goodwood - buy the DVD/Video when it comes out - cracking coberage of ALL the races usually. It should be out around November (they take their time, they do).

Yeah, I sat thinking "yep, that was a pretty decent race. A good race at Spa the other week...things are looking up for F1".

Then I watched Goodwood and reminded what racing should be like. I honestly remember being as exceted bt motorsport. Historic racing should definitely get more airtime. It's so refreshing being able to actually see when a driver is going quickly or pushing rather than relying on a computer telling you someone was a couple of hundredths down during a certain sector.

I think I'm going to have to see about making it to the next historic Le Mans...

Yep, Montoya did a great pass on Kimi as they drove into the circuit on Sunday morning.

The porsche supercup race beforehand was far more interesting from a racing point of view.
The F1 race isn't all that different to the practice sessions for spectators.

I did not watch it.
Gave up years ago.
When it comes down to one overtaking manouvre for a ninety minute "race".
PAH!
Lets have teen carts on the telly or stock rods or..or..or...or

I'm a huge motor race fan, but the word is race.
I'd rather watch club grastrack than F1 these days.

Sort it out!

Maybe I'm a bit sad, but alternatively, maybe you ought not slag off a race you didn't see.

I actually found the true meaning of the phrase "on the edge of my seat" on Sunday watching this race.

There was the fastest ever F1 lap with an average speed of over 160mph! Rubens struggling on inters, Michael making a mistake and spinning off. Cars drifting through the chicane. Overtaking all up and down the field. And a brit leading most of the race and being chased down by superior machinery for a final race to the line with another podium for Jenson.

I for one thoroughly enjoyed the race, as I did Spa. And I'm very much looking forward to Shanghai.

As i have said - a good race by modern F1 standards - but actually, really and truthfully, only a marginally interesting race.

I watched the BBC highlights of the 1984 Dallas GP last night - three changes of lead, umpteen changes of 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th places, loads of overtaking attempts, quite a few "offs" AND NOT A SINGLE PLANNED PIT STOP! Race won by Keke Rosberg in a chronically mishandling williams, in temperatures of 40 degees C and the winner's trophy handed over by Sue Ellen no less.

GP racing as it should be.

I was getting a bit p'd off with the TV coverage of the race.

Two cars would be lining up for a "outbraking" passing manouvre going into a chicane. They;ve get right beside each other.

And we cut to the Ferarri mechanics sitting around sleeping!
grrrrrrrrrrr

By the time they went back to the action it was all over and done with.

The time they actually get a dedicated tv crew, driectors and all, that go to every race, then we'll finally have some coverage that dosent suck!

Other than that, damn good race! Quite exciting.
