06 Volvo S40 Not Starting?

Hello

Looking for some advice, this has never been a problem but earlier today I tried to start the car, turn key and all the usual dash lights come on and go out, the starter makes a noise but not like usual, sort of a higher pitched noise like its not doing anything. Is it worth getting a new starter relay tomorrow or is it likey to be the starter motor itself?
