Not really sure if anyone can assist but worth a shot.

My father has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. So, in an effort to "sort things out" whilst he is still kicking around (after being forcibly signed off sick from work) he's had all his tools delivered - so we can get rid of them for the cash!

Little problem - Dad has been an engineer all of his life, working on some pretty sizeable projects. His tools were delivered in a lorry, and I'd estimate he has two 6-foot tall cabinets full of spanners, wrenches, sockets - all sorts of crazy crap. Every single one is either Britool or Snap-on ("cause he didn't want to have to buy two of them if he went cheap and broke" apparently) including both the 6 foot cabinets. Thousands of tools in mint condition.

But. I haven't the foggiest as to how or where to get rid of them. I'm not mechanically minded at all, and they are incredibly heavy so I don't know if something like ebay would work.

Any suggestions?

If you know what they are, have the time and inclination, and can handle the headache of dealing with the odd idiot then eBay would be the best way to go, certainly for individual higher value or specialist items.

Listing them as a job lot will be a pain, some moron who has no transport or a fiesta will end up the highest bidder and will expect you to post them for about £15.

Sorry to hear about your situation, that's not nice news for anyone.

Good market for these in pretty much any part of the world. eBay works well, although you will make more if you go through and sell each part individually as opposed to bulk - obviously.

Where are you based? If there is a local University that offers engineering it would be worth speaking to them to advertise a glorified garage sale and shift the stuff that way.

if the boxes are snap on and most of the tools inside too ive seen these reach thousands on ebay.
If you have the time then splitting everything is a good idea, its all high quality that will bring you good money.

You would be best if you could get a some one to help tell you what it is and catalog it
