DC JOINS RACE OF CHAMPIONS

David Coulthard has joined Michael Schumacher on the entry list for this year’s Race of Champions.

The two F1 aces will take on Colin McRae, WRC championship leader Sebastien Loeb and NASCAR ace Jeff Gordon at the event in Paris’ Stade de France on December 4.

Coulthard said: “Having watched the event with interest for many years, I am very much looking forward to competing against an entry list of world class contenders.”

Coulthard and McRae will join forces in a strong British team at the event.

McRae, the 1995 world rally champion, said: “DC is a great driver so I am hoping that we will be up there.

“Personally I am hoping to be one of the few drivers to beat Michael this year – and certainly the first from outside F1!”

The event will see drivers slug it out on a figure-of-eight track in a variety of different machines.

Schumacher last month agreed to become the first reigning F1 world champion to take part in the event
