After a lot of research on this website it is obvious that you are better off going for the GTB/S over the models mentioned above.
Basically i was wondering if any current or previous owners could post their experiences of owning the earlier models on here. Are they really that unreliable compared to the later models? My budget could probably stretch to a good late TB/TS, but a GTB/S seems a bit out of my budget.
Thanks

I bought one in febuary and sold it recently.I looked at 10 before buying.Just wondered how much you have in mind as a price for the car you want.

Yep, I'd ask same, whats your budget. I sold a pretty much mint 348GTS a year ago for £28,500 with 16k miles on the clock, they're out there if you look.

Carl,

I looked at 348s for 6 months a year or so back, in the end I didn't buy and went and got me a maserati 3200, but thats a different story!

Obviously a GTB is going to be nicer than a TB - you get more power for starters! However it's important to remember that the 348 evolved over it's time - it's not as simple a TB or a GTB.

1993 cars are slightly altered from the original 1990 car - the battery moves from nose in 1990 car to tail in 1993 car, and various other tweaks take place that I don't have the detail for.

If you can find a later (1993) car then the tweaks made will benefit you a little, but overall judge each car on condition. A 1990 car that is in good nick will still be a pleasurable car to own.

Its all down to supply and demand etc etc etc,but when I was looking, there was absolutely nothing that wasnt crap under 30.

Avid autotrader readers could form the impression that decent, well looked after 348's can be had for between 20 - 25 grand.

I'm not saying you cant get lucky, but from my own experiences, neh chance.

No its fair enough. This is the right time of year.

Its just advice for you,I know I was a bit worn out trying to get one.I went about it with the attitude that there would be loads of good cars out there for 25 ish money and there werent.

Patience will be the key fella. If you are determined then the right car will come along for you.

What a fantastic car though - it'll be well worth any bother involved in getting it.

I may not be experienced enough to add to the thread, but I went through the same process when looking at purchasing a 348.

I ended up with an MR, as I needed a more daily car, and my budget wasn't stretching far enough.
However, when I do move toward buying one, hopefully mid-late next yr, I think I'll take my reddies to the continent. With a little bit if phone organising, you could pick up a very good 92-93 348 for that budget.

My £0.02.

its very easy to do.

I thought I had found an immaculate rosso 360 for 57 a month ago in germany.

It turned out the car was manufactured in silver and repainted red.

there was a thread on importing not too long ago in GG, just do a search on the forum for 'import', and someone had clearly shown the steps.

Just out of interest, does anyone know what year of 348's start to only need a cambelt service every three years instead of every two, as it will obviously reduce overall servicing costs and prob would be a factor when looking for a car

Not heard that one.But I think the whole ferrari/cambelt question could rear its ugly head again.
