Hi All,

A friend has a Mk 3 MR2. The headlight covers have gone a bit milky and looked aged. I see no reason why they cant have the surface polished/refined to bring them back to looking new....but....using what product?

Are there any good compounds specifically for refinishing transparent plastics in this way?

I attach a piccy for reference

thanks all

I'd be intrigued to know what the Meguiars kit is like.

A head lamp is usually a polycarbonate material covered with a lacquer hardcoat to protect the lens.

The yellowing tends to be the polycarbonate ageing so it's my understanding that there is no way to fix the yellowing without removing the hardcoat and then it depends how deep the yellowing has gone. Then you open yourself up to headlamps cracking, unless you replace the hardcoat layer.

I did the acrylic lights on several vehicles using farcelena G3 to get the worst off then G10 to polish them up.

I do however believe the headlight specific kits are better as they are specificly designed for the job
