According to the Radio Times:

Sat 04/12/04

British Eurosport 15:30 - 21:00 Race of Champions Live

Sun 05/12/04

British Eurosport 12:45 - 14:00 Race of Champions

Also recall some mention that the BBC would be showing highlights but no idea when, probably over christmas.

Kenneth.

Must say the track they'll be using looks pretty much like a Mickey Mouse scalextric starter layout!

Those Eurosport times probably bera no relation to what they will actually do.

Just seen the track and it does not compare with previous years.

I can remember a number of F1 drivers, including Johnny Herbert and M. Schumacher, racing on an indoor circuit, in a stadium, but part of the track was down the corridors, only just too narrow to allow passing, under the stands .

Also, note that the Sunday coverage may be for this, from the Autosport site:

"Ferrari set for Paris parade

Ferrari set for Paris paradeParisians have become accustomed to hundreds of bikes thundering down the Champs Elysees on the final day of the Tour de France. But on Sunday the historic cobbled stretch will provide the backdrop to a blur of red with a Ferrari parade in tribute to the 2004 F1 world champions.

Travelling down from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde will be the championship-winning F2004, an Enzo, a 575 Maranello, a 612 Scaglietti and an F430."

That was the Paris Bercy karting. They ran it for quite a few years. Totally fantastic. I still have some tapes. Prost,Senna,Herbert,Villenueve,Schumi,Trulli,Morbidelli,Gounon etc over the years.

They also had the upcoming karters racing. cue Button,Pantano etc.

Fantastic.

For those that didn't see it, or haven't seen it yet. Watch it, good fun action.

I hope next year's event (also to be held at Stade de'France) uses a dual surface tarmac & mud/sand (something) to add a bit more interest. Not sure what would have happened if it had raines either, wet tarmad narrow tracks..... action would have been good if a little hairy and slow.

Massive packed grandstands too.

the 10 second penalties for touching the walls ruined it a bit for me(why!?) but otherwise it was good

They've always had that in place, even when in Gran Canaria.
I think it's to do with infinate ego's and finite equipment.

Hate to see the event finish early because a World Rally Champion keeps stuffing his cars into the walls because they keep being beaten by a 19 years old junior formula racer now would we.

So, for those of us who haven't seen it, is anyone going to tell us who won?

Might be unfair on those who haven't seen it yet since the BBC have yet to show it. But if you want to know who won look at any motorsports website like www.autosport.com or www.crash.net

Heiki Kovaleinen won the individual and Loeb/Alesi (France) won the team event.

Schuey beat Loeb in the buggies.

DC was a farce.

Don't you mean Nations cup final was a farce? Picture the scene it's 2-2 in the final, last round, champion of champions, Mr Finland, etc. Kovalinen (sic) Vs Jean Alesi (France). The kid has already pasted Alesi twice in the final (Loeb has hands down won his races) and so to the decider. Oh dear, what a shame, the Finnish car breaks almost immediately and Alesi showboats to the finish, with enough time to get out, take a bow and restart the car to actually get to the finish. France win. Smells of 1998 world cup final all over again... They should have been embarassed to win it like that.

i wouldn't say he made Schumi look ordinary - MS was very neat and precise each lap - bet his lap times were v consistent. Kovaleinen just looked that fractionbetter than every one else at every bend - in his final races he was mere millimetres away from the barriers at every turn and was quicker than anyone else through the mickey mouse barriers they put up for the Ferraris. Amazingly good drive.

10 second penalty rule ruined it and the as mentioned by someone earlier the finale was a shambles. Should have been rerun in fit cars.

Armin Schwarz was mega spectacular as he always is at Goodwood and the donut man who just casually jumped out of his car and walked off, leaving it donutting behind him was hilarious!

It was a fantastic night. Bloody cold, but the atmosphere was superb. Armin was the king of drift, smoking the tyres all round the circuit. The pit walk was a farce, but, an event, definately worth going to next year.
