Guys,

been offered a crashed 360 CS (write off) - needs a complete new front end, some suspension and by the looks of it rear wishbone set up (one side) as well as a new rear bumber section.

Anyone got any experience of the costs of these sort of components/work from previous "offs" in 360's?? - can bits be bought cheaper from Italy??

Thanks

Thanks - brakes are all OK - it's mainly bodywork, chassis and suspension uprights.

If you were only planning to track this car, a 360 challenge car could be a better option?

It would have to be a stunning deal to buy a written off 360 imo...

rico,

it would be road and tracked so I'd prefer the CS if possible - in saying that it would only make finacial sense (considering it will always be on the register as "previously written-off") if the car stood me, at the most, 60% of the cost of a Pukka version.

Think it's going to be circa £50-55k - as is - then need the parts and labour to put it right.

And yes I think that there will be some chassis damage which will need to be sorted.

I think it will be the parts pricing, rather than the cost of labour, which will determine whether it's viable or not.

I could post a PIC - but don't know how!

There are dealer, RHD CS's going for about £117k. If you look to Europe the prices for LHD cars is below £100k. If you bought a car for 55k you would need at least the same amount again to get it fixed in the UK by a dealer (which is a must). IMO it will not be worth it. You would need to take it abroad to make any financial sense. Italy is the cheapest, followed by Belgium, then France and most expensive of all is the UK.

Good Luck !

hello dealmaker.it looks like we`ve seen the same car.i`m not really interested in buying it at the moment but like to keep my eye on prices, etc.it looks like it needs afew bits but i know a man who has ferraris for breaking, and he is probably your best bet to save some money.pm me if you don`t know anyone.as for the price/value/economics of the deal, ignore the doomsters and just buy it!!if you buy it right and ignore ridiculous repair quotes (ie dealers)then you should drive it for a year or two and still break even(hope i`m not insulting your intelligence here)

I cannot see how you could sell on a 360 that is in the insurance database as a write off and not repaired by a ferrari authorized dealer. No one would touch it with a barge pole unless 1) the price was very low or 2) you managed to hide its history. Most people buying cars in the 100k range will do their homework from my experience.

sorry i didn`t realise you had experience of buying/repairing/selling damaged cars.the common misconception is that a repaired car is relatively worthless, and will be impossible to resell.i always smile when someone (even those in the car trade) assesses the damage on a car they have not seen as too bad to repair safely, and then says it is only worth half price if it is on the hpi register.as for having it repaired by a ferrari dealer, the standards of workmanship in the bodywork trade, and the low wages paid, often mean that a so called backstreet garage with a properly skilled man in charge will often make a better job than an all whistles and bells dealer outfit

Try Adrian at CentralTVR in Birmingham 01384-571021. He's currently doing a 360 with a smashed front for a customer.

How much does a LHD one cost to convert? That could be another possibility rather then a w/o.

I don't know many people who would buy a 100k car which is a w/o repair. Especially if it wasn't repaired by an authorised dealer. (Even though an independent could do a better job, how amny people will go and check the reputation? Most will probably just find another car).

So it would have to be significantly cheaper to make it worth while.

I think re-selling it will be easy - if it's repaired properly and priced correctly. Let's be honest how many times do we see people buying LHD Ferraris just because they are 10-15K cheaper. People always aspire to have what they can't afford and If you were offered a perfectly repaired (Chassis align checked etc..) RHD 360CS for 20K below an undamaged RHD car, I know what I'd take.

Remember a lot of CAT "D" cars are Written off because the insurance company can't be bothered to repair them (especially exotics that can't use there own repair garages) Many cars with worse crash damage will be repaired by the insurance company - and you will never know, there is no requirement to keep any records.
