Like many other Chimaera owners (it appears), I too am selling my Chimp.

But I am not posting this to try to sell my car, I am just wondering if any people are actually managing to sell their cars, and if so whether they are getting the price they are asking for.

So, for those that have tried to sell their Chimps and have succeeded or failed, lets hear about it!!

Tried selling my 4.0L (at below the sugested price 98R 17-18K)for six months got so fed up with time wasters, idiots and test pilots that I part exed it against a lovely Chimaera 5.0L which I am keeping for ever well thats the plan anyway !!!!!! A very depressing six months I can tell you

I sold my car 2 weeks ago via a TVR specialist - in 24 hrs. 17K miles on a late N plate, absolutlely mint, PAS for £16K. Could probably have got more but I found a Tuscan I wanted and bought the same day I sold the Chimp.

I loved that car though. The new owner will be delighted.

Well I have just bought one, rang numerous ones which were all still available. I have to be honest a number I saw were seriously over priced and not worth the money. Unfortunately it appears it is a buyers market, with scope for serious substancial negotiation, if buying privately. This was fine for me.
My S sold within two days of appearing on PH.

Smile back on my face, six weeks without a car depressed me. Hope you all sell soon.

Steve Parker.

Bryan, was that 16k and then you had to give the dealer a percentage or 16k for you clear?

I've just traded mine in with a dealer - didn't get what I wanted for it. Could have got more if I sold it privately, but it's my only car and I couldn't be bothered with all the timewasters.

Bit depressing, but I have got a nice Cerbera coming to replace it.

If i were selling i would probably sell through an independent specialist, like Peninsula or Raven, both seem to sell cars farely quickly, i would expect to get at least £2K less than the selling price, after commision etc. but no hastle !! this is the best month, august starts to slow, checked Autotrader website the other day, there were over 200 Chimaeras nation wide so very competitive. The sad thing is that you enthusiasts with pampered / well maintained cars are being buried in the heap, even more reason to use a specialist dealer.
