At what point should the Rev Limiter cut in? Mine seems to cut in at 5500rpm which seems a little early to me.

Is there anyway to adjust this if its wrong?

Ah ha...glad you asked, I wanna know to, cos, mine seemed to cut in around the 6K mark, but it was hard to tell because the Rev needle seem to wave up and down a bit approaching 5.75/6K, so couldn't quite tell if it cut on 6K or just over....

5800rpm I think.

Peak power is 5200rpm on a 450 so everything after that is just noise and wear.

Matt.

Just read a post that says the 500 cuts in at 5500 and 400 at 6000

I have a 400HC

Dont get me wrong, I dont normally rag it that much. When driving fast I normally change at 5000 anyway, but I can get carried away somtimes and expected it to go to the red line, not stop before the yellow one.

Hit mine once. Was nearing 6000rpm (4.0) forgot what it was and nearly shat meself for a second!
Reminds me of going to my wedding, the best man was driving us there and we were a tad late, jumped in his motor and was tearing around, we joined the slip road to the by-pass, changed up a gear and the engine lost all it's power
It took about 10 seconds to register he'd gone from 2nd to 5th, that was also quite scary!

Worst expirence of hitting the rev limiter I had was on my bike. Front wheel in the air in first, hit 60mph and the limiter cut in, the front wheel just hit the floor like a ton of bricks, provided me with some scary tank slap and the need to go change my underwear!

my first car was a Ford Anglia with a Holbay BDA 13,000rpm screamer engine..fantastic little motor that loved being thrashed

only thing was when they said it was a 13,000rpm they meant it as at 13,100rpm they explode, which unfortunately I was to find out on an exit out of a corner with a late gearchange, BANG, whoops.

underware also ditched

My 450 hits the limiter at 6200 nearly a thousand more then whats really useful – I think it depends on what mood Mr TVR was in the day he put the ECU’s together.
