Laffite was one of the top F1 drivers in the 70's & 80's, best known for his years driving for Ligier & Williams and he won several races. He retired soon after breaking both his legs at the start of another race.

British GP of 1986 IIRC at Brands - hit the armco protecting the exit of the tunnel under the circuit at Paddock Bend - I was in Paddock Stand at the time.
