I'd imagine he means they wear at a high rate. That is indeed true as they have a wear indicator that says they wear down three to four times faster than the Bridgstone SO3's. As a SO3 will last around 8-10,000 without trackdays that seems about right if he's "done" a set already.

Although apparently you can't compare tyre wear ratings between manufacturers as they all use their own scales...

I'm guessing though, 60 treadwear is going to be short in anyone's book.

All these posts about new M400s being delivered and reading how it seems to be as good as the 3R on the road plus have all that extra oomph for the track and the minimal price diffeential here's a question;
Is anyone buying 3Rs anymore?
Rgeards

Hmmm, now this one will just run and run! :-)
What say ye Factory?!
And what of the '3' - any sold (lately)?

When is YOUR M400 arriving, Paul?(You know resistance is futile)

As mentioned, one of the drivers for me considering a GT3 is the absence of head room in the 3R. The M400 solves that problem with the "reclining" seat, so it's back in the running... Viper grey... Mmmm...
Gearbox is good, but a bit clanky. Is reverse really that "awkward", or is it just the car I drove?! The roads were too greasy to open her up properly, but the torque band did seem to be around 500 RMP further up the range? Mind you, once you get there... it does feel as if there's a well of power under your right foot. The revised turning circle is a blessing, and the seats are fab - even in "fully reclined" mode!

Looks nice in grey
You'll probably have to get a spanner out for the seat reclining or better still ask the factory to do it when you order.
The gearbox on mine has got significantly better since run in was completed. Reverse was a pain to engage but now I just slip it into 5th before engaging reverse and it always engages ok. Everything else on the shift is less clanky/notchy but also I think I've had more practise which has helped.
And unless Stephen has had the seats changed in his demonstrator they'll not be as good as the onces I've got!
ps. If you're worried about headroom for a crash helmet don't forget the velcro seat squab - you just rip it out for an extra inch or two extra head room. - Don't know if you this feature on your 3R.
chillidog said:No, I don't have the removable seat squab on my 3R, but even in the M400 it doesn't seem to make much difference. I was down at Kerridges for a couple of hours yesterday while we tried the seats in various positions; fully reclined gives the head room but is a bloody strange driving position! I think the next-hole-down might be a suitable compromise. Not sure whether he's had the seats changed, but there's a new 400 just come in so I'll take a look at that - probably going back later today if the roads have dried up. You're a tall chap; do you have the seat reclined??? Would like to have a look at your M400 to see Viper Grey in the metal...

I'm 6' 1". I removed the squab for a mate who's around 6' 4" and the headroom was then ok (although not much room for a helmet). But you've got to really try it yourself to be sure.
If you want to have a nose at my M400 I'll be at home tomorrow - you can drop me an email via PH and arrange something if you like.
