Just thought I'd try, I know its a long shot but I just recalled an incident that happened with a 911 turbo many years ago.

I think it was red. It overtook me on the way to york just as the road turned into a dual carrageway Like I was stood still very impressive. something happened to the car as it dissapeared out of my sight. Huge fish tail slide.

Anyone remember getting in difficulties around that time?

In 1988 i drove up to Harrogate for a wedding in my Red 911 SSE cabriolet, had a big rear left wheel blow out at speed on the A1, blue smoke everywhere but managed to pull into the side, where a very helpful policeman, actually changed the wheel for me. Carried on with the spacesaver at the 50mph max rating, being overtaken by all and sundry, with much hilarity and horn honking. My wife certainly enjoyed the rest of the trip with a 295 wheel on her lap in a plastic bag, didn't add to her "look" apparently!

SSE was a turbo bodied 911 so could have been mistaken for a Turbo.

No was definately a turbo. I would have stopped to help you with the tyre.

The guy I was following had a really big moment but didnt stop. Im pretty sure the guy still has nightmares about it now. Was an exceptional piece of avoidance. Although I recond he drove the car a bit more carefully for a while.
