GT3RS values falling?
Discussion
Seems to me that most OPC's seem to have a barely used GT3RS on their books which is slow to sell.
At a new list of £90k or so ( with speculators asking £100k ) , this has now given way to barely used ones not selling at £80-85k.
How far to fall before they stabilise then?
After all, with less than a hundred in circulation ( I think ?? ) they must have some natural floor?

As an RS Owner I have been watching this closely.
It is the wrong time of year to be selling an RS. Back in September there was non in the network, as soon as the track season finishes they started appearing.
Also I think a few people bought them not really knowing what they were buying.
I know of 2 which have sold recently.
Also List price with Steel brakes and all the other options is 85k, list for one with PCCB was 91k. This is why there are 2 price bands, I am sure the PCCB cars will become closer to the steel prices as everyone knows the issues with PCCB.
These are just my thoughts. We will see come March / April whether the cars start mothing again. The same thing happened when the GT3 MK1's were new.
The Mk2 was different as Porsche made to many of them. I know of one person who got an 8.5k discount on a brand new mk2 that was in stock.

Fantastic cars, a few may have sold at Sunday Times prices, I know of a couple that have sold in the last 6 mths for realistic prices. I got out of a new car order in sept, partly as it dawned on me the days of a premium were over and it was a lot of money to track.
I think these will always trade at a premium of around £15-18k over the equivalent GT3 Mk2...there are 29 mk1 rhd GT3 Clubsports, the arrival of the RS pushed these down what will be next?
They values are certainly not going to fall out of bed, but most have been tracked fairly hard...or sold on as the owner realised the car was not for them.
When these come up to the end of the warranty period, those that are outside the dealer network are certainly going to be a fair bit cheaper.
These will probably be the most desired 996 going forward, but with the number of cars Porsche has sold in the last few years,,,falling values of 996TT & Gt2 have got to have a downward impact on prices.

I'm selling mine at the moment, half-heartedly as sort of thinking of an M3 CSL (half the price, does 95% that the RS does). Advertised at 78995 as there are quite a few at OPC's at list.
Probably change my mind anyway !
I can understand your logic on this to a degree, but i may be wrong on this but aren't CSL prices taking a hit lately ?
what about MKI GT3, best bet for long term resale IMHO.

Thats a good price.
Best at an OPC is £83k, so I guess you are near trade in price.
Sadly, until April I am frankly skint !

i went for a nearly new csl, and got a 3 month / 2k mile 04 car for 17k off the original list price.
it probably will drop a bit further, but i hope at the same price as a standard m3 it will do a bit better.
porsche depreciation only looks good in % terms, if you measure it in £'s then the BM will probably be as good as a 997.

Yes compared to my Mk1 GT3 I found it too focussed with not enough compliance and "feedback" on give and take roads.
Excellent to the ultimate degree on the track though - however is this a case of it being too much of a good thing! Too focussed for the road and too expensive (for most) for track only use.
Me?.....I'd rather have a cooking GT3 for the road and a Radical or Atom 300 for the track!

Having recently sold a CSL for £40k (trade in) with 10k miles I have to agree they are a real bargain. I ran this car next to my Mk2 for over a year and had a good chance to compare them for an extended period. I know the subject has been done to death (and this is off topic - sorry!) but my summary (and humble opinion) is the CSL is cheaper for a good reason - yes, it is highly effective, but the driving experience is much less special - less challenging and ultimately less rewarding. It also has some weak spots (brakes) compared to the GT3. However, it really is massively more entertaining than a standard M3, and on the right road (or track - like the Ring) it can be intoxicating - that engine, great steering and a fabulous chassis.
But the acid test is I'm not really missing it. I suspect it would be different if it were the GT3.

Small world indeed - Martin dropped me an email today and told me he knew you.
Hope you've had a chance to open up the RS a bit - weather's not too kind though!
On another topic, did James mention HPC to you? Given your passion for driving and Porsche, I thought it might be of interest. I think you've got my email if you'd like to know more.
Cheers
