Aston announces DBR9 driver line-up

Experienced sportscar drivers meet at Sebring

Aston Martin Racing has confirmed an international driver line up for the 2005 season, which begins with the 12 hours of Sebring in March and includes the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The six drivers are (from left to right):

  • Peter Kox (Netherlands)
  • Tomas Enge (Czech Republic)
  • Pedro Lamy (Portugal)
  • David Brabham (Australia)
  • Darren Turner (UK)
  • Stephane Ortelli (France)

This line up of experienced sportscar drivers will share driving duties in the team’s two DBR9s at each of the races during 2005.

All the drivers came together for the first time on 31 January at the team’s latest test at Sebring, Florida.

"It’s great to have such a talented pool of drivers to choose from," said Aston Martin Racing team principal, George Howard-Chappell. "Having worked with most of them before, we know they will bond as a team and work together to help develop the DBR9."

Aston Martin Racing will confirm at a later date which of the contracted drivers will compete at each event during the 2005 season.

No they are involved in the effort managed by David Price - this press release covers the "factory" Prodrive effort.

Cracking driver line up. Wonder how they'll team up. Ortelli, Lamy and Enge in one car would be nigh on unbeatable

That is an increadably strong driver line-up. Shame there's not 6 British drivers, but as 5 drivers go, they all have Le Mans experience, are all quick and are all competitive.

Can't wait!

Without doubt will be a strong team, after Pro Drives excellent effort (at Le mans) last year with Ferrari. It will be one heck of a race between the Aston and the new C6, - will undoubtedly overshadow the LMP's in my opinion - real cars in a real race
