Hey Rivergirrl!

I certainly did! It's a Griff 500, M reg, Highland Pearl (dark grey really - where do they get these names??). Totally besotted with it! Drove 50 miles in it tonight just for fun...

See you at the Black Tie and Pie Night? (I might wear a dress instead of a DJ though...) Unless you fancy an all-girls get-together one of these days - you're in Berkshire, aren't you?

I didn't give up on the S really - I saw a V8S I really liked and would happily have bought that as well if the budget had stretched to both that and the Griff!

But in the end what made my mind up was the number of people selling S's and 4-litre Griffs to trade up to a 500... So I thought I may as well go for it and cut out the middle man.

I have a number of theories on why more girls don't drive them!

1. They're hard work to drive compared to a nice MX-5. You need to think about what you're doing rather than just pointing it in the direction you want it to go.

2. Their reputation for being less than 100% on reliability scares off females who don't know their spanners from their plenum chambers. You need to do simple jobs on the things yourself otherwise it all gets very expensive very quickly.

3. Their blokes get jealous.

Errr thanks Bluethunder. I think.

You'd be surprised, though - I tried a few Griffs and Chims at dealerships, and they all said the same thing: "Don't want to be rude madam, but you're not very big are you? Are you sure you can handle one of these cars?"

I can see how that'd put off any lady buyers...

Yeah i suppose so.But then again they are not very good salesmen to deter a woman or a bloke from buying a car.

I agree. But this wasn't even a one-off, I heard it at every dealership I went to. I see their point I suppose, but then again...

Hey, SGirl, Good to hear of another lady TVR driver! Mine is a Chimaera - had to get one after my sister took me to France in hers!! - and I have two girlfriends with Griffiths.

As to dealers you saw trying to put you off (dumb or what), pedals are adjustable, seats can be juggled with, what's the matter with these guys? Think of the power!

I know Rivergirrl, hope we all can meet up sometime. meanwhile, enjoy it!

Hi Caro!

Nice to "meet" you! Hope to see you sometime - Rivergirrl was mentioning a girls-only get-together? You on for that?

Yep, my view too. Except they all seemed to think that as I'm not built like a lady wrestler, I'd probably be incapable of manoeuvring it in small spaces. They're almost right actually, but I'm getting there! I just knew years of riding horses that pull like steam trains would pay off eventually.

SGirl,

...and you ride horses, too? I KNEW this girl thing was good! Horses, girls and TVR's...boys, watch out!!

I used to know a 17.2HH Dutch Warmblood that did the train thing very well...very good for the arms!
