Whoever last owned my mini completely butchered the wiring loom. I've ripped out loads of the crap that was done and have now started to run things back through the fuse box.

I know I need a haynes manual but does anyone know where I can get a copy of a wiring diagram on line??

The problem is the rear and side lights, they keep blowing the fuse as soon as they are turned on no matter what size fuse. I put a 35a fuse in just to see what they would do and it blew. It took a few seconds more but it blew and the rear lights only dimmly came on??

Any ideas?

You would seem to have a short to earth between the switches and the rear lights. The appropriate wiring needs to be stripped out and replaced as necessary.
To do this, disconnect the wires to the lights adjacent to the lights. Then, using a multimeter check the current when you switch on. If it shows a dead short the fault is between the switch and the light unit. So just replace the wires concerned with new wiring. If the fuse still blows before you can get a reading, disconnect further back up the line(s) and test again. Only use the nominal size fuse to avoid damaging the circuit as not all wires can take 35 amp current.
Just be methodical in tracing back to locate the fault, which must be between the light switch and the bulbholder. You don't actually need a circuit diagram, although one would certainly help. The colour codes for the wires can be identified from the lamp ubit at the back. This colour codes will apply right up the the switch (one hopes).
