I am thinking about giving the Mini a tidy up. Although it looks good with minor rust bubbling in the usual areas,I am thinking of getting the following done:
New Front Wings
Front Panel
A Panels
Inner front Sills
Outer Sills
tidy up filler work on Mk1 rear light conversion (previous owners work)
Complete Respray in Flame Red/white roof
Prep and fitting Mk1 bootlid.

Any rough ideas on costs? Mini is a 96 Rover Cooper, although its a Mk1 look with 10in wheels etc.

I am considering getting this done, or possibly selling it and spend the cash on a Mk1 resto or similar

Depends where you have the work done. For example, I got a quote from Somerford for scuttle panel, front wings, front panel, A panels and flitch panels, which came in at around £1500. Their work is considered "restoration quality".

I think you will get a number of recommendations on here for Chris Spennewyn who does the bodywork on Cooperman's rally cars. When I spoke to him about my requirements, he advised that I ought to consider scrapping it and getting a better one! Either way, he's an honest bloke who, by the look of Cooperman's cars, does a bloody good job.

PS I want your Pickup!

Thanks for the reply, my brother is thinking about taking his Mk3 S to Somerfords, probably worth it for that, but not for my SPI.

Will never sell the pickup (unless things get really bad!) the respray/filler work cost around £500 by a local bodyshop in Devon for cash a few yrs back. Fortunately it has the original wings & front panel.

I will have to get the pics hosted, as I think the pickup looks fantastic (I am biased though!)and always gets comments, when it rarely comes out of the garage!

The pickup is fabulous. I **really** want one but they are like rocking horse shit it would seem. There's a great one round my way - dark red with a black roof, s/c/c/r gearbox, 1380 Turbo - goes whining up the highstreet like shit off a shovel!

They are both lovely.

If I ever get the space I'll be having a Pick Up and a few others...

Thanks chaps, the Pickup is my baby, it has been on the road for about 4yrs now, but rarely gets wet! Its running a 998 with a stage 1 kit, Cooper S close ratio box, other than that it can go back to standard tomorrow, although I like is as is.

Cooper is showing some rust here and there, front wings have been cut for bigger wheels, so I may tidy it up, and do the full Mk1 look properly by trying to get a bootlid, centre speedo, maybe even Newton Commercial trim. All it needs is an older looking reg number, a works reverse light and it will be sorted!

I am sure the current reg number will appeal to sportspack or late Rover Coopers with S Packs, so I may stick it on ebay!
