...only 13 days to go before picking up the Lizzie. Just wondering if there's anything in particular that I have to watch out for?

Thanks in advance

LOL! I remember seeing a police liveried Evo 6 driven on the bypass outside Edinburgh airport a few weeks back...

But seriously, I'll have a good look at the car before accepting it but obviously, I don't want to take the piss by going over the car with a magnifying glass.

Once I drive the car off, if anything goes wrong, I presume Lotus would be happy to sort it out when the car goes back for the 1000mile service...

check the doors and windows very carefully - often the windows don't quite sit at the right angle to get the correct seal - and some times the doors may just rub on the clam ever so slightly - very minor and as you say - easy to sort at the 1000 miles service

make sure they tell you exactly how to run the car in - and stick to it ! hard as that will be ....

BTW - Great choice - enjoy your new car !

If the cars been sat in the dealers for a couple of days in dehumidified conditions don't worry if the roof leaks the day you pick it up - if its anything like mine was, it'll p1ss in as its shrunk a bit but should be ok after a day or so. Mines now absolutley water tight.

I'm not too concerned with the roof as I'll be getting it with the hardtop fitted.

Here's the spec:

Elise 111S
Laser Blue
Alcantara Seats - Laser Blue
Black side panels
Blue center steering wheel

me too! I'd have put money on it that you'd have bought an ornage car with that kinda nickname!!

Lavaman...DO take the piss. Seriously. Go over it VERY carefully and note anything you arent happy with....don't assume that the garage will treat you as a returning customer in the same way as when they were trying to sell to you. I've been caught out by this in the past.......

I don't mind the colour orange but only on the S1's, somehow I don't think the S2's in Lava orange look that nice, it is not as nice as the previous orange as it is too opaque/flat. I think it might have something to do with the organic curves and the simplicity of the first Elise. I was in two minds about whether to go for an Exige or S2 Elise, but the S2 was the one because it'll be my only car and I would be a bit concerned about the front spoiler catching curbs and ripping the front number plate everytime I go over a speed bump. Mind you the S2's ground clearance are not that much higher than the Exige. Lovely car though. Been in one before but never driven one. I think the Elise will be a touch more civilised to drive and a better proposition for everyday use.

On the subject of inspecting the car when I collect it I'm going to examine it properly before driving off, don't you worry.

Jamesmac, I've never heard of the Scottish Elises club, do you have any info? I would definately be interested in joining a Lotus club of some sort.

Lavaman, I would say that the Scottish Elise Club is a MUST for anyone with an Elise in Scotland. I joined as soon as I got bought my S2 & have got to know several of the very entheusiastic members already, who all share the same love for the Elise.

There are several Track Days (Knockhill, Crail, East Fortune), road runs & social get togethers throughout the year. Also, there is a wealth of technical info. available from owners who have serviced/modified there cars.

If you go to the www.scottish-elises.org.uk site & click on the "Yahoo Group, Join Now" icon, you will be directed to the news group. Once joined, you can introduce yourself as a new member.

Oh, there is a Lotus track day at Knockhill next Wednesday. An all day thing, with instructors bringing a couple of 111's cars from Lotus Cars. You should try & get up to that. E-mail me off line if you require more info.

Jim.
PS When do you pick up the car?
