I agree, that'll pitch it in among some really stiff competition.

must admit, we've had a leaf since March 17 and without a doubt, EV's are the future. I'm utterly convinced.

timing is great as ours is on a 2 yr PCP, so by then I'm hoping the tesla is out and about and available.

you should read today's Daily Mail article on the Tesla and see the ranting's of ICE owners re: the subject !

Any ideas/guesses as to how much it will be in the UK when delivered?

UK price isnt known yet. We do know its $35k before federal tax incentives.

The general consesnus is that we wont get it for £27k like the daily mail are claiming, more likely $1:£1.

So if its £35k before the government £4.5k grant then £30500 base is a good starting point I would say.,

I highly doubt £27k. Id put money on 1:1 too.

Will the grant defo still exist for it? If so thats not bad overall but options on the 'S' are pricey to say the least so I expect no different on the 3.

Given the £40k car tax band I hope they do everything to keep the cost <£40k once you put (assuming there are any) options on.

I thought electrics are zero company car tax? Or have times changed?

The Government scheme was extended in April this year, so we should still get £4500 off the price when we eventually pay for it and you should get a £500 contribution to your home charging point as well.

My understanding is electric will be £310 per year VED if >£40k sale price.

Ah yes, two bits to the VED now so we will have to pay that if it's over £40k.

Presumably, the £40k will be calculated BEFORE the £4.5k grant is subtracted?

Company car tax should also still apply AFAIK.

Any interior shots yet?

I guess we knew what the outside was going to look like for a while now... its nothing special to look at. I think tesla's have something sorta early 2000's about the way they look. But really its the interior that we want to see I remember those early demo vehicles it looked pretty sparse!

must admit I hate the "touchscreen" ness of everything in the leaf. I like buttons. its a lot easier when driving to press a distinct, formed button, not scroll through a touchscreen.

if that's the interior, it'd do my head in, being touchscreen.

but I'd still be looking at purchasing one !

the styling of the leaf is awful, maybe the new model will be better. ditto the I3- its like an ugly child only a mother could love.

you're buying these cars with an eye on running costs I suspect. tesla- bland- maybe so, but that's a good thing.

google Toyota's new H20 powered car- for goppingly ugly vehicles. because what we need is a £66k H20 powered car that does 60mpg and costs £70 to fill up, to do 300 miles. when EV is miles ahead already.

and doesn't require you to find 3 filling stations in London either.

Im definitely not sold on the Model 3's big screen. It just doenst integrate like the Model S one.

And its the only screen - the S has a dashboard too. Im not sure how I would get on with just a screen, its a bit distracting to look over at for speed etc isnt it?

Mini has a central Speedo. Puts me right off, but plenty seem to get on with it ok.

There's been plenty of speculation and griping over on the TMS forum about the interior and lack of options compared to the S.

I'm not a great fan of the idea of a single display in the centre of the car, but they had to simplify the design and manufacturing process with this model or they'd never get it out on time and on budget.

I'm willing to keep an open mind until I sit in one and see for myself what it feels like and I know it's going to be different, so I'm prepared for some re-adjustment.

I just hope they ship some demonstrators over here before they ask for the rest of the money...

I'm betting that you won't need distinct buttons you can instinctively feel for while driving, because you won't be driving...

So when's the full unveil of the production-spec car then, with options and prices etc.? Apologies if I've missed this!
