I have a TVR Chimaera and a 996 Red Bull Rep Ducati.
I am thinking of trading both in and going for a 348!
Can any of you guys give me some advice on what to look out for?
Cheers

burriana is a bit of an authority figure on 348s i'm sure he'll jump onboard and give you some advice. Apart from that, Verdi's are a good independant

Wouldn't quite say an authority, but I've got one and have gone through the same question process, then found one and gave it a baptism by fire by taking it on Eurohoon after owning it a week and a half

- If funds permit, go for the later GTB, GTS or Spider rather than a TB or TS. Slightly more power, slightly better suspension set up and single plate clutch over the double plate in the older models. Having said that, coming from another car, you will find either model exhilarating.

- Must have full service history - either main dealer or well known independent like Verdis or R&D Automotive in Manchester. The only benefit in having the main dealer stamp is come re-sell time.

- Watch for rust spots along metal plate across base of windscreen and tatty interiors. walk away from both unless the car is a very good price. There are enough pretty much rust free cars around and most Ferrari owners look after their cars so interiors should be ok. If the interior is not looked after what does this say about the rest of the car.

- Engines are pretty robust and will do big miles - the only thing about a higher mileage is once again, come re-sale time. Take a keen interest about when the cam belts were last done as this is an engine out £1500 job. They are usually done every 3 years or 20-30k miles. Often done earlier as it is a good selling point.

- 6k mile service is going to cost on average about £700 plus anything that needs replacing.

- Having a Tubi exhaust fitted (and de-catted) is a HUGE bonus and the cars sound awesome. It is a £2k job that you WILL want to get done!

Take a look at ferrarichat.com as there is a post running by someone else also looking for a 348.

Good luck.
