I've been driving this round now for about 6 weeks without the door panel or membrane. I still think it's not sealing perfectly at the front near where top of the mirror meets the glass and the pillar for the roof. I'm gonna try fiddling with it some more. I've downloaded the pdf from Porsche which explains how to adjust it but it's mainly gobbledygook if you ask me. I still see a bit of water getting in and onto the front wheel of the regulator. Its not pouring in so it could just be from getting in and out of the car. Maybe that's what's eating through regulators. I cant imagine the cables and that wheel being designed to operate when wet constantly. If this regulator doesn't last long I'll need to start thinking about new seals.

I've decided to try some gaffa tape on the inside of the membrane where it means the door. My thinking is that water running down the inside of the membrane wont get into the little gap between the membrane and the door if the gaffa tape is covering it. So I'll try to attach the bottom of the membrane first whilst still needing access to get a hand in there to tape it up.

My passenger door lock refused to open on Friday. This is the second time it's done that and annoyingly I was giving a colleague from work a lift somewhere. He was about to climb across when persistence paid off and it opened. I'm going to replace that door lock next.

I did mine last year - careful on the thread in the (ally) gearbox. I didn't have a pump to refill so poured the oil in via funnel and hosepipe through LR wheel, went in surprisingly quick.

I did mine a few weeks ago - nice and easy!

The bolts have a reputation for being quite tight - mine were, but fortunately came off relatively easily with a breaker bar. 10mm hex from memory. Make sure you can get the fill plug off before the drain!

Then refilled using Motul Gear 300 75w90. I've read it's best not to treat it as a level fill plug, and to just put 2.7 litres in as it doesn't like being overfilled.
The bottles have a spout on the end which I was able to use to put in the fill hole and squeeze the contents in without the need for a funnel/pipe etc.

Haven't been able to drive the thing yet to see how it all is, though!

as above remove the fill plug before the drain.

mine was stuck fast and needed persuasion and a new plug

use motul as above or the genuine oil (which is a very hard to find mobil oil, only comes in drums)

I filled with triple qx of the correct spec and had to do it again with motul as it was worse. Still, the cheaop stuff acted as a flush i suppose

made a big difference especially when cold

stick your finger in the drain hole and clear the sludge off the magnet thats just inside

i just have one of these cheapo pumps

What difference could having a bit too much fluid cause?

You could really tell the difference, that's surprising.

Not sure, really.
I just read the spec is 2.7l, and waiting till it dribbles out of the fill plug usually means you've put in more than this.

Read a couple of things that said this was bad, so was happy enough to stick to the 2.7l spec at that point! Less mess, too smile

I still believe ATM photoshops his pictures and shrinks the car to 90%
Or that he has washed his 996 too hot laugh

New dent on my bonnet. Must have happened while parked outside. No other explanation makes sense. No objects on the ground nearby. No paint damage too so I suspect a person or large animal. Difficult to photograph but I'll try.

I made a few of these myself, they're just cut down ice hockey pucks (which cost about a quid).

Unlucky about the dint frown
