ruched leather in pensioner shoe grey.

Other than that good for the price, interesting to see how long it hangs about. I've got insurance renewal coming up I think I need to go agreed valuation.

I prefer black leather (dark blue leather kinda works but the more I look at it the more I think it looks wrong) with subtle aluminium highlights. HOWEVER, it really makes the interior a dreary place to be. That's the reason why I chose pensioner grey. Maybe I'm getting on a bit. Well, I say that, I actually would take that sand/butterscotch colour but that's also a light colour... and even that darker red (but not with a blue exterior - that's just weird. biggrin )

(I know it's a 996.2 interior...)

With an aluminium wheel!

The blue one has been around for a few weeks at least so it might be that the dealer isn’t prepared to budge on the price even though the ad admits a wheel refurb, a new set of matching tyres and a seat repair would be required. The pics also don’t show the car has been prepared for sale as it hasn’t been washed and the dealer is also claiming to be selling it for a family member so you wonder whether it is a dealer selling or an excuse to try and claim it is a private sale & hence no warranty etc.?!

Mismatched / budget tyres are always something that puts me off.

Just finished a 2 day 500 mile round trip to see friends and family in mine. Mostly motorway, and mostly pretty steady... my car hasn’t seen 30mpg for a long time!

After 2 years there’s a list of jobs that need doing...

4 tyres
Wheels need a refurb - my wife has completely shredded one of the rears!
ABS & PSM lights are on, so assume it needs an ABS sensor
Rattling heat shield right rear
Door handles are sticking
Ignition barrel
Some rust on NSF arch
Odd whine from the heater/ventilation unit

Good trip out in it though Chris?

Does anyone have a cure for drooping centre vents for an early 996? It's pre-cup holder types. I set them where I want them but they'll always be pointing at the floor a few minutes later. I'm thinking of putting some electricians tape on the top surface while they're fully down to try and tighten them up a bit buts it's a bit bodgy.

Here's a £2 fix and people won't even know: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124715337038

Just attach it to the lowest vent.

Well it would certainly work but I hate any extra clutter. I'm a bit weird like that!

Happily driving along this morning when the alternator and battery warning light started flashing. The charging dropped to 12 from just over 14 but has recovered to just under 14. I’m assuming it’s a sign the alternator is on the way out?

Fair enough. I just want simple. Guess you'll have to get a new vent off ebay and remove the entire dashboard or something!

It sounds like it might just be the alternator voltage regulator, not too expensive a part (Bosch) but slightly annoying/time consuming to replace. Other than that there is an outside chance it is the "Y" cable. If your car has an issue starting when it's warm and it's the original, then look at that.

Sounds like regulator is on way out to me too.

Has anyone had trouble with a drooping sun visor? My driver side visor keeps dropping and someone has attempted a fix by wrapping insulation tape around the part of the visor that clips in. A new clip is cheap enough but I’m not sure if it’s the visor itself that’s at fault? I hope not as they’re an indecent amount of money from the dealer. Anyone want to guess the price? (No cheating!)

Wonder if a visor from another car fits. Like an old Fiesta or something. I'd be tempted to just remove it (both?) and put a sunstrip in. You could make it so it isn't 12 inches down from the roofline (unless you like the Halfords look).

Before I fell off chair I noticed that is a leather clad item. The vanilla visor is not leather clad. Surely thats not Elon Musk money?

Looks like they only do leather ones.

I'd just make do with this:
