I need a medical before I can take my ARDS test in 2 weeks @ Mallory, but cannot get one at my doctors for 7 weeks! And they will charge £120 for the priviledge.

Anyone know of a private doctor I could use in the Beds/Herts area? Preferably cheaper...

They shouldn't be charging you £120, the medical is the same as one for a HGV license, mine is about £70.

Ring up the doc's, tell them it's an emergency and that you need to be in Bahrain by tomorrow night as you're taking over from some fellow called Montoya

That will do it, they will either believe you or give you an appointment because you made them laugh so much.

You dont need your medical before your ARDS test you just need it for when you send off for license. £120 is rediculas anyway. Any Doctor should be able to do it so phone around.

Paid £20 for mine. Local GP. As said, phone around and see who can fit you in without taking the p1ss on costs.

Out of interest, what's involved in the medical? Being a shy type, I'm not too keen on the old short arm inspection....

Cheers

DR CRANSTON 01582 764673 in Harpenden did mine - their is a bigger listing on the MSA web site. under go motorsport then licences

He is on the medical board of the MSA!, smoked a huge cigar throught the brief process and got a recipet for 50 quid (unlike the local GP who wanted cash in hand)

All they really do it check you've got all working limbs and can see straight, read the letters and the colour blindness test. After that, it's just BP, urine sample, heart and that's about it. 15 minutes max.
