Well its got to be said the old BMW E30 M3 of Nigel Stephens is 1 heck of a car. He qualified it 1st and his driving partner Mark Smith finished in the race 1st even with the N/S/R tyre hanging of the rim in the last lap. well done chaps.

Metcalf Motorsport E30 M3:

Yes with around 260 Bhp, a sequential gearbox and fibreglass bonnet/boot etc it should be!!!

To be fair there are a number of Honda's that are pushing out 260+ as well, some of them with sequential boxes as well and basically production class btcc cars...still a good effort from a car that not so long ago used to be at the sharp end of Britcar as well...

Sunday's Production S1 winners: Natasha Firman and Mark Ticehurst in the 'Johnny Herbert-alike-liveried' Mazda RX8

I've never seen anyone post on here regarding this Civic although it seems to have some of the most prominent PH stickers of anything racing in the EERC series'. Who/what is the connection?

If by this you are surprised that they are producing that much...the standard Type-R is somewhere near 220, a re-mapped one done properly is 240, so with decent cam etc. I would be surprised if you cannot get a reliable 260-270...

in your dreams...

to get 240+bhp from a K20A required a little more than a re-map (unless you are using ammerican thundering horse measurements)

How sequential gearboxes, carbon/fibre glass panels and polycarbonate windows can be production I do not know. For this reason and this reason only, the only two cars in the series produced for this class of racing is the ex BTCC Production Cars of Brunswick Racing Alfa 156 (ex Blencowe) and the Butler Motorsports BMW E46 320i (ex Michael Bentwood).
Others are cars built from road cars again right for Class C and then these super cars of Class B. Funny though how the original two BTCC Production Cars that used to battle it out together are in different classes?????

I know I most probably stand to be corrected about other cars out there. In all truthfulness it is a bit a fun this year (???) and will become a bit more tied down next year when it becomes a Championship. We will see.

It is true though that under hard acceleration some of the higher spec Class B cars just power away from other class B cars etc.

Also well done to Skelton/Forster in the supercharged mini, spot on but mental driving in all that rain.

"The only modifications on the race-prepared Mazda RX-8 are suspension to limit roll in the corners, slick tyres and a roll cage, while the engine and gearbox are standard. The Mazda RX-8 is the closest to a production car in the series and it is the outstanding reliability and speed of the rotary engine, coupled to the excellent driving dynamics that makes it such a great endurance racer."

Sounds fairly close to the road going cars and now seemingly up to the mark performance wise for s1.

Well said Paul, but what makes you think anyone would want a 17 year old Mazda?

So the RX7 Gen2 13B turbo is utter garbage and no one would want one then?

An E30 BMW has had a lot of development time spent on it and also as standard wouldnt meet todays safety requirements, cant realy compare an antique like that to modern cars now.

If you put it like that I will stick to the Antiques and my Porsches, but never anything Japanese or French come to that I mean who styles them, I sooner prefer something with presence.

Had a bloody good day and have the sunburn (fading now) to prove it. Was there on the Sunday. Some of the most interesting racing I've seen for a while (well, since Le Mans anyway!)
