This is a brand new Oris. Yesterday, for the first time, I noticed something, and now I can't unsee it. I'm pretty confident others won't spot it unless they look closely, and I'm not weird, so I can live with it.

I'm interested to gauge the level of obsessiveness in other PHers, though. As if I didn't know already wink

Could you live with this?

It's either:

a) slightly off centre; or

b) the second hand doesn't tick onto the actual numbers.

a) wouldn't bother me. b) and I would have to take it back.

Is it the fact that the bezel isn't straight?

It's the bezel. The second hand is fine - because it's an auto, that sweeps anyway. The bezel isn't perfect; and when it's lined up at the 15 second mark, it doesn't line up at the 45. Similarly with the 0 and 30.

Are they 'all like that, sir'? Or is it just yours?

Would do my head in on anything that cost more than about £50 I think.

Dunno, it's a new 2017 model, launched in June. We had to order it from Oris, and I've not seen another in the flesh.

I am afraid to say, that would drive me nuts; regardless of whether they are all like that or not.

At full price it would be going back, if it was me.

That's kind of what I'm thinking, but I don't know if I can be arsed...

Contact Oris with the photo and explain this is not what you would expect of their brand.
It may only need a replacement bezel that could be swapped out at an AD.

Or keep it as a bad bezel limited collector's edition, first batch only, really special innit. silly

biggrin

I posted here a while ago about a Kickstarter watch I bought which had "Quarts" on the dial. That held its money - I got my purchase price back when I sold it. After 3 weeks...

Do you mean where I have circled?

I wouldn't give it a second thought. I've had Rolexes where the bezel doesn't index straight and that bothered me slightly, but that Oris wouldn't. And I am fussy.

Yes. The horizontal red line I added goes through the 15 second marker on the bezel, through the 3 on the dial, through the 9, and just above the 45 on the bezel. Likewise, the vertical line goes through the pip, 12 and 6, and not quite through the middle of the 30 on the bezel.

If Oris send me a new bezel, then fair enough. If I have to take it, or send it somewhere, I won't bother.

As I said in my OP; I can live with it (it took me a couple of weeks to even notice). I just wondered if that made me odd.

Is it just me or is the positioning of the 'ORIS' text a bit off too?

If it's under warranty I imagine they will want you to send it to them. Though I'd probably take them up on it actually, if it's grinding your gears that badly.

Yep - if you take a look at the Rolex Forums, it's clear that even Rolex, despite their excellent quality control standards, suffer from the odd misaligned bezel or dodgy cyclops.

In this instance, the bezel itself might be correct, but the dial a little skewed - it almost certainly attaches internally via a couple of 'feet', and if the tolerances there aren't very tight, the dual can be rotated off centre by a very miniscule amount, which nonetheless is noticeable to the human eye.

That wouldn't bother me hugely, but I can understand that once seen, it's hard to ignore, so if it really grates then I agree, send it back.

Have to agree with others that it's not that bad.

That scratchy-looking bare steel on the bezel to the right of the 12 would bother me more........

I've just seen this thread after posting a picture of my new Aquis elsewhere. I can only see the fault with the 45 marker, can't see any others to be honest.

That "bare metal" is just a reflection in the bevelled edge of the crystal.

Knowing what I'm like, even if I noticed it, I'd just never get around to taking the watch back, I don't think it would bother me enough if one of the markers was slightly out like that.

Nice watch by the way!

Thanks for the clarification.
