I have been looking seriously at buying a low mileage E55 AMG Mercedes, the one with the 5.4 litre supercharged engine.

My first impressions of this car are good, for an old barge it seems well put together, the few I have seen so far have had lots of miles on them 100000 + and still pull amazingly well, well into losing license territory and probably out the other side into jail time.

There are a few out there that have lower mileages but come with the obviously higher price tag but before I commit to spending 10k ish on a big aging Mercedes is there anything else I ought to be looking at ?

I want 4 doors, I want luxury stuff inside and I don't mind fixing it myself when It goes wrong.

I ran one of these a couple of years ago. Amazing car, looked great from the rear as well. Easily tunable, can easily make them sound better (secondary cat removal & Xpipe)........ see Acid at MSL in Birmingham for all of your requirements!

Just note the air ride suspension can be costly to repair/replace, supercharger heat exchanger water pump is weak....again plenty of upgrade options & quite in expensive.

The parking sensors WILL have a brain fart for no reason...normally water ingress... remove and re silicon seal job, can do yourself.

Discs/pads much cheaper than the same shape E63 version.

Engine/box bulletproof evidence of ones on youtube of 300k + miles.

Dont buy it if you are worried about MPG.

Cheers guys. My E55 is high in the miles. 138k but it still goes very well, especially with 522bhp!
