But he'll get a slap on the wrist, he can afford a Bentley don't you know. Can act as you wish when your in a high end German motor...

Victim says "these modern cars ring emergency services"
Car says "emergency dial set to off, carputer says no"

Not sure what the Ford driver could have done to avoid that, I read the "came out of nowhere" quote and thought "usual statement from someone not looking far enough ahead" but that Bentley really did seem to just skid into view!

Why does the dashcam footage say May 2014...?

I know the spot well. That Bentley was in the throes of having his own crash, without any help at all. The camcar did him a fairly big favour. He must have utterly thraped it through the High St, and even if he'd got through that pinch, I doubt he'd have made it as far as the Little Miss bypass roundabout.

Any bets on his brief disappearance giving him time to sober up?

Date on the camera must have been out by a few years.

Don't they all set the date from GPS?

Plumb... Dick Plumb.

Could only sound like more of a toss if he added Jr, Esq or 2nd after it.

No idea sorry, just know it happened in May last year so must have been out of sync in someway.

Didn't read it, I have now.

I think 14 months and 4 year driving ban is a slap on the wrist. If that was a youth from Bradford they would have been sentenced to hanging.

And we don't even know how much their respective houses are worth. Seriously lunatic driving, I don't think 14 months is much of a punishment - though in total it keeps him off the road until he is ready for something slower like a Jazz.

The ratio of custodial sentence to ban seems odd to me. Wouldn't be shorter prison sentence and longer driving ban make more sense - it'd be far cheaper and arguably keep the roads safer for longer... or maybe he has history which means they don't trust him to honour a ban.

Don't forget the compulsory extended retest after the ban's up.

<thinks>
Don't bans start on release now?
Ah, not quite.

So it's a 4yr ban, plus 7mo for the minimum time he'll be inside.

The prison sentence is just about at the maximum possible - 2yrs, less the discount for his guilty plea.

Jesus, I sort of assumed the Bentley was coming into a built up area and had failed to adjust to the change in road conditions; a somewhat understandable mistake although retarded to make it on such an epic scale. I was being too kind the cammer is going into town, this spanner was carrying that speed down a busy high street in the middle of the day, total lunacy.

It gets better. It's only about 500m from a just-about-two-cars-wide pinch immediately after a pair of mini roundabouts.
