Can anyone confirm that 280 and/or 350 wing mirrors are from the Rover SD1? I'm buying 350i mirror shells from TET to replace my 280i ones but need to source the innards.

Thanks,

Thanks,

According to the bible the innards were made by Britax for TVR and are the rarest bits I have ever seen for these cars. It may be the same as that of an SD1 but this car had been out of production for some time before the pods were introduced and also had lots of mirror variations. Your best bet is to choose a commonly available mechanism and fit that although you may need to change the wiring a bit or not!

I took mine off as they can do a lot of damage if hit. They are bolted through to the door and will twist the window frame. End result is a busted window and twisted frame. I now have mirrors that simply get knocked out of the way.

Hi Tony,
The mirror internals on my 350i (1987) are from a Rover SDi Vanden Plas, i managed to source some replacements from a breakers yard in Kent. Finding SDi's is like buying rocking horse poo. Good luck.

I can confirm that the mirror internals are indeed SD1 as I replaced mine recently. But as Steve says you'd probably be better off using bits from something easier to find,
