Nomination for Customer Care - Steve Howard
Discussion
The e mail address for nominations for the Customer Care award at Black Tie & Pie is here:

I have nominated Steve Howard at Thames Valley Racetech. He's never too busy to give advice, puts himself out to help and knows everything there is to know about TVRs. You can drop in and ask him something on a Sunday when you'll often find him working on one of three Tuscan challenge cars they run.
I've got lots of specific examples of him going beyond the call of duty to help and I'm sure lots of other people have too.
So get nominating by sending an email to the address above

Rather than consistently fantastic service Ted?
Tssk, you journalists. Always after the sensationalist story
Alright, since you ask: At 2.30 in the morning on Christmas Day, I had a problem with the timing flange on the crimping assembly on my 5.8 litre Griffmaera. Not only did Steve sort it before it happened by travelling backwards in time (apparently with the right ECU chip you can get a Cerbera to go so fast that it exceeds the rotational speed of the Earth), he also arranged for Cameron Diaz to give it a quick wash and leather and left a case of Old Speckled Hen in the boot

I'd second the nomination for Steve and his crew. I've never been disappointed with the service, they've come round to the house to help get the car going and always been ready to give advice over the 'phone or if I drop-in. No absolutly major knock-out incidents of amazing service, but consistently good service.
After all, I'd rather go somewhere where I could rely on them all the time than have 99% rubbish and 1% miracle-working.

I was down there this morning to have something checked - Steve (and Harry) were as nice as ever.
How about this for going beyond the call of duty:
In 1998 my camshaft went (4.0 Chimaera). Took a few days to source a replacement (Why is it that TVR are always out of stock of the exact part you need?!?). Anyway, I sourced one from TMS and Steve fitted it. On startup my engine had no oil pressure. Steve then spent the next few days working on my car - many many hours - trying to work out what was wrong. Turns out there was a small crack in the oil pump cover (fragile alloy thing, can't blame anyone really). Took 2-3 days for this to be sorted out - I dropped in each evening on the way home from work to offer moral support and Steve was working away until god knows what hour. The final bill once everything was sorted? about 600 pounds which is around the cost of just doing the camshaft. He certainly gets my nomination.
Thames-Valley-Racetech have certainly saved me a few bob over the past 3.5 years that I have used them.

That's more like it

Thanks for your votes. What will really steal the award for someone is a particular incident of going beyond the call of duty. Have had one very good one so far.
David Batty. Spoke to David this week and mentioned I was planning to take my TVR out to the US next year. Without any prompting he was offering to be at the end of a phone line when needed, would arrange to courier parts out as necessary (hopefully, it won't be) and is seeking out an old contact of his to help out with shipping the car over. Nuff said.

I did post to say that Steve wouldn't be getting my vote and some of the reasons why. But it's been deleted without any sound reason cos everything I said in it was true.
Cheers, Steve
Grey 4.2 Cerbie
Problem is that the post only told one side of the story and whilst no-one is disputing what you or others may write there is no opportunity for the other side(s) of the argument to be put across.
Ted's view is that he would rather not have any 'naming and shaming' on the Gassing Station and therefore the post was deleted.
