964 Engine Undertray - on or off?
Discussion
Boring question I know, however should I keep it on for improved aerodynamics or remove it for improved cooling and so I can see all the oil leaks that 964 are supposed to have - I thought I would get in first!!
Technically minded answers please. I have enough opinions already. :-)
Many thanks Andy

It won't really make a great deal of difference to running temps - the 11 litres of oil in the 964 engine, conmined with the oil cooler and the two speed fan will take care of that. There is some argument that the cover may prevent adequate cooling of the heads - ie, hot spots in the heads, even thought the engine per se is not running hot. I don't think it matters either way. I had mine on for a year or two, then took it off for a service and never put it back on.
You remind me - I was curious about this. All the yanks on Rennlist forums remove the undertrays from their 993tt's for better cooling. Is this relevant to British weather or only worthwhile when living in hotter climes? The only disadvantage that they mentioned was the amount of road crap thrown up that encrusts itself on your engine - equally applicable to your 964 so not a COMPLETE hijack
