Hi Maserati people,

As some of you know I've been looking into getting my car chipped etc. So far I've looked at 4 different alternatives, and I've now narrowed this down to two.

There are two 'off the shelf' solutions for chipping - the leo-nardo upgrades provided by a german company and another offered by a swiss based concern.

Neither of these two options are currently available in the UK, and they are relatively expensive.

I am investigating getting a 'job lot' of upgrades sent over then arranging fitting at one of the UK's most respected independents. This is currently in early stages and I can't make any guarantees. However what would help me shape the whole thing would be a gague of who else might be interested?

Drop me a mail and let me know if you want details of the following.

Options are :

1. Sport springs for 3200 / 4200 / spyder - lowering 20-30mm. Only available to cars with skyhook electronic suspension.

2. Engine chipping :

Options range from a basic 35hp chip to the engine (with or without sports exhaust), to 80+ hp from tweaks to ecu, intercoolers etc.

Wheel tyre packages in 18" 19" available also, but personally I'm not looking at doing that to my car for now!

I think u can count me in too. Which options I'd like I do not know yet but once u have some ideas on what sort of costs and modifications are involved then I will be in a better position to let you know.

But more importantly as long as it does not nullifies my warranty with Maserati - its important that I can carry on with extending this year in year out. I am sure many of the 3200/4200/Spyders would feel the same.

Anyway it all sounds exciting and I look forward to you pulling this off!

blusatin - don't know Ray - drop me a note if you have a chance.

As for warranty issues - obviously engine upgrades are going to affect the warranty - I'll look into this.

[Technically an exhaust change invalidates the warranty too! Dealers tend to turn a blind eye however..]

Why you're going to use the Maserati warranty though I don't know, it's viciously overpriced!

UPGRADE UPDATE

HAving been in contact with the nice people at leo-nardo in germany, it seems that they are happy to ship parts to be fitted by competent mechanics.

First up I'm keen to get my car sitting on some sportier springs (get rid of those unsightly gaps in the wheelarches) and then I'll be looking seriously at a stage 2 or 3 engine conversion.

Springs would come in at around 750quid + vat a set and will only fit cars WITH electronic suspension.

If you're potentially interested in the upgrade then drop me a mail. I intent to order a set this week and hopefully get them fitted in time for le mans so they get a proper trial.

Because they've got you over a bloddy expensive barrel!

Better off with Warranty Holdings or going to an independent like Verdi - warranty from Verdi was quoted at 1200 or thereabouts + VAT... Factory was more like 3 times that...
