I'm feeling a little stressed to say the least!

I've had the car up for sale for a couple of weeks now and have finally got some interest from a couple of potential buyers (both dealers) who are coming to view the car at my work today.

The cars been running like a dream for ages now but decided today that it's going to dribble along at no more than 3k revs. :(

The Check Engine light has come on which indicates to me that something electrical has happened....does anyone have a clue what this could be? Or how to 'reset' the check engine (and hopefully the problem) so I can see if it runs ok?

Any advice desperately needed!

Yes you can reset the engine idle system within minutes yourself.

Give Meridien a call and ask for the Service departmet (Speak to Lee or Dominic)and one of their engineers should help you over the phone.

tel: 02380 283404

You will need your mobile so they can walk you throgh the steps.... open door, depress pedal, wait ten seconds etc etc....

Good luck.
Gavin

Thanks again - spoken to Lee now (top bloke) and he's explained it's almost certainly a Lambda sensor thats reporting a fault. Easy and fairly cheap to fix apparently - and it might be fine when I drive it next. Fingers crossed!

other option is to electrically reboot everything.

Disconnect and reconnect the battery. It will set the alarm off (or it should), but once you've done that the check engine light should go off if it's an intermittent sensor issue.

If it doesn't you need to get it checked out pronto.

Great, I'll bear that in mind should the problem still exist - I'm about to take it out for a spin so I'll let you know how it goes...
