Apparently not disasterous so I've been told...

What do you think is the problem?

I found that constant pfffissssing etc really irritating after a while.Got rid.
They upset tick-over on standard ECU GTST's too.Recirc system & Apexifilter works best & reliably.
BOV's,fast becomming a bit chavvy depends on the car,I suppose.Quite good on a RS2000,imo.

Stealth is prob the ideal thing

yep, apexi + recirc for the R33.

if your car sounds like an 80s hatchback Turbo then it sounds shite... principally because it sounds like a dustcart.

Mate had an atmos' BOV (heheheeeeee) on his MR2T and it ed it right up until he replaced it with the standard recirc' valve.

I think they sound cool but the novelty does wear off.

Lot's of devided opinions on GT4 and MR2 sites, but the argument is (in a nutshell) to do with the air-flow-meter getting confused, and over fueling on upshifts.

Pretty much it in a nutshell, yes.

I'm just passing on what I've been told. If it works, it works....

Must just add.... Mines set up correctly, not like these dicks on Halfrauds carparks who have the spring wound right off to make it open at anything less than full bore, full boost.
Mines set so that it only opens when the boost gets to max, and then when the throttle is released, the result being a short duration "TSCHH" noise at full bore rather than " FSSSSCCHHHH-----FSCHHHHHHHH-" etc from the Laxxy muppet crew.

I'm, almost ashamed to add now that I bought Bailey Motorsport's BOV off ebay, but I haven't noticed any ill side effects.

I dont really notice it anymore either.

Dont be ashamed mate, we are all friends here

I might try it for a while, if it feels to chav, or results in rough running, i can always swap it back.

would anything be ok on / suitable for a '91 mx5 turbo? will it help if the wastegate might not be holding all the way up to the correct pressure?

Thats the reason im changing mine, the current one is leaking boost pressure.

If it makes it slower, you haven't fitted it right.

Unless my understanding or the term wastegate is incorrect (which it may well be!)

Basically, the actual valve part of the dump valve has got a bit sticky and gunked up, so its constantly "dumping" a little bit of air.
