Evening all,

I have read (mostly on Rennlist) about BMC panel filters to replace the standard filter on the 993TT.

I am not going to drill the airbox, or use a cone, since my engine is running standard everything at the moment.

Where do i get a BMC panel filter from?

I have a BMC panel filter which was installed via the Scuderia guys when the Techart 100 cell cats and Tubi sports silencers were done. You could try and call Manu at Scuderia Systems - number's on the website.

Cheers Ewan.

Just did a quick google and the BMC site came up.
Their distributor in the UK is based out of Silverstone, and they have retail outlets in Berkshire (where i live) so i called one up and they're getting me price and availability. Sorted!

£55 - for a different filter. What 'benefit' are you expecting?

I was thinking the same - surely you'd get greater pleasure from sticking £55 in the tank and going for a blast; maybe use a lower gear!

I tried one of these that a mate had.....there is definitely a slight placebo effect that it makes a difference because of the slight change in noise for about 10 mins......for under a tenner a time I just change the standard one whenever it looks slightly dirty

There are a good few people on Rennlist who have fairly well modded 993TT's, and a couple of them have even done before/after dyno runs for several of their mods.

Example - the Gruppe M airbox lost power on an otherwise almost standard set up (still on K16's, standard intercooler, etc) compared with the standard airbox and filter. A cone filter induction kit lost a little mid range but gained a tiny bit of top end. The BMC panel filter is a direct replacement for the standard air filter, but keeps the air just as clean with less restriction, purely on the basis that its construction gives the air more surface to pass through. Result on that particular engine was no noticeable difference until about 4k, followed by a steady climb resulting in an extra 24 flywheel horsepower.

Now i'm not expecting 24 horsepower, but it's only 55 quid after all.

Here begins the slippery slope though. I am keeping my eyes peeled for 100 cells next...
