Loud Exhausts.. when do they become illegal..?
Discussion
Am concerened with the legality of my latest purchase, Last time I heard an exhaust like mine was at Silverstone last July..:D
What is the situation reagrding the law.. I know my car emission wise is ok, but is there a law regarding decibels.?
I don't think its louder than some of the TVRs I've had or an equivalent Harley with loud pipes..
Is the car tested at MOT time for noise..?
Cheers all

surely you're not going to be able to track it now if it's that loud???? if you'd never intended to track it why didn't you just drill a couple of holes in the silencer as save yourself a few squid? more importantly, why you got a gt3 if not for track use?
see you on the other channel no doubt under my aka

There is a law regarding loud exhausts, from memory, but you should be fine. Never had any problems with Caterhams, 964 with cat bypass and G pipe etc.
The big problem will be trackdays. Most organisers will measure your exhaust for you if you turn up and ask; saves booking a day and being refused. Once you know the output, you may be confined to 'noisy' days only - 105 dbs and below. These are obviously quite rare compared to the 98 db days.

Was at Brands Indy..(wet).. after 1st week of ownership.
The exhaust bypass pipes were cheap buzz, until I decide to layout big bucks for a proper system.!
When I next track, I will refit original silencers for the day..
Am just curious as to legality, can you be pulled and nicked for a loud exhaust.?
