Porsche dealer 911virgin is holding a track day at Castle Combe on Monday 27 June. Following on from last year's successful outing, the track is booked for the day after the British GT championship round there.

911virgin boss Henry Firman said, "It's their biggest weekend of the year and a great track to spectate from so you might want to make a weekend of it, watch a bit of racing on the Saturday and Sunday then have a go yourself on the Monday.

"As per last year it's going to be a small informal gathering and as with last year there will be a selection of race car drivers taking people round the track as passengers, they will also be able to offer advice and guidance throughout the day. This is a Porsche-only event so everyone is in the same boat, no super-light Caterham / Westfield / Radical hybrids to upset your flow.

"We are also making a special effort to help those people who haven't attended a track day before. No one is going to judge you on this event, it's not a race. You drive at your own pace and are simply using the track because it offers a safe environment without oncoming cars or errant dogs / cats / children / deer / sheep / blind entrances."

Format

  • Driver's briefing outlining the few simple safety rules you'll need to adhere to.
  • Noise testing -- 100db limit -- so no sports exhausts. Standard road cars should be fine.
  • Informal sessions of approximately 10 or 12 cars. The first couple of sessions we will run a novice "tour bus" for those who want to hop in, driving round the circuit at slow speed pointing out basic techniques for circuit driving and allowing you to familiarise yourself with the track layout.
  • There will be a lunch break of 1 hour, (lunch is included in the price).
  • As the day progresses after lunch we will change from the sessions to an open pit, maintaining a maximum of 10 to 12 cars on track at a time.
  • In the afternoon we will run two or three race cars offering passenger laps round the circuit with a real life racing driver at the wheel. (You'll be able to spot the racing drivers as they wear special racing pyjamas all day).

Track closes around 5.00pm then it's off home to tell your friends how incredible you were and how you think you may well get a call up for Le Mans next year. Maybe not, but hopefully you drive back down the M4 with a smile on your face.

Cost per car (driver and passenger) £225.00 including VAT
