Are you allowed to block the vehicle in that's parked on your private land though? or are you meaning if the vehicle is moved to another place it shouldn't block anyone in?
No. This is not allowed. You cannot block a vehicle in by moving an new or temporary obstruction into a blocking position.

However, if a permanent obstruction is already present, it can be adjusted. So, if you have a permanently installed gate or bollard, you can close and lock it with no comeback.

Had a strange incident a few years back..... My car stopped on B road (fairly busy country road) I pulled into side, and as luck would have it a young lad came out of the nearby house and said " I'll help you push it onto our field entrance", which was very kind, and got it away from the traffic. I had a fiddle, and decided to call AA. After about 20 minutes lad's Dad came out frothing and told me I was causing an obstruction and had to move it. (I'd only seen the entrance used once in 5 years!). I said I'd happily accept any help, but unless he could help with getting the engine active I'd have to wait for AA. More anger and he said "I'll call the Police" so of course I said "please go ahead", which made him more angry. He told me again to move it. I just repeated what I'd said. next he came up with "I know where you live, and I'll come around and park in front of your drive so you can't get out!" So I said " I'm not parked, the car's broken down, I haven't chosen to do this, furthermore if your car breaks down outside my house I'll try to help you and provide a cup of tea!"
He decided to give up......laugh
I learnt after that he was well known for getting heated over nothing

This is the approach I would take, outsource the problem to someone who deals with it every day and is likely to be intimidating if the offending parker tries to get in any way mouthy about it. All the better if zero cost to the OP.

A can of expanding foam up the exhaust is almost as much fun as an exhaust whistle.

I concur - the law changed in 2012 as part of the "ban clamping/immobilisation" policy, so as a compromise the private parking industry was enabled to purse the registered keeper instead. Any sort of blocking in or preventing the car from being moved was criminilised. Solved one problem, by arguably creating a bigger one.
This law change has tied up an already over-worked court system with thousands of frivolous and vexatious claims every month. (they have been issuing claims en-masse recently for tickets issued in 2015/2016, trying to get in before the new central code of practice bill is put into place)

I've got 6 claims on the go at the moment, which is why I've been a bit quiet on here - most of which, in my opinion, are dead ducks for the claimant. I'm fully expecting most of them to be dropped before hearing, but it gives an insight to the mindset at the PPC abusing the court process as a final method to extort money from motorists.

Some suggestions.

Buy and stick some cheap fake plates on it and report it as a stolen/cloned car.
Cover it with a tarpaulin and wait for the owner to leave a note.
Put a for sale sign on it, with a cheap price and wait for the owner to leave a note.
Casually throw some bird seed on it every time you walk by.

Thread-starter on the site less than a month, with just one post to his name, does a runner after starting thread despite it going to 3 pages inside a couple of days. And it's half-term.

Coincidence? scratchchin

Someone's reply to a post on an internet forum managed to shift a tonne and a half a metal, that's been sitting in the same spot for months? Sounds like you're the one who believes PH is some sort of voodoo.

Clearly, you have never read one of the Epic threads Supporting the parking on private land.

Could you share a bit more info? When you say it is in your space do you live in a an appartment building with allocated underground parking or is this an external space allocated to your property? Are there many free spaces around this space or is it 100% occupancy and thus 100% more of an inconvenience to you?
It's a house in a cul-de-sac with several parking bays. It's a private bay which shows on my deeds and land registry.
There aren't any other spaces to park.

I wish that were the case.

If I can get this resolved, I'll post an update so that other people with a similar problem will know how it was sorted.

I'm impressed (I think) that you've left this going for a number of months. I get peeved if someone is in my space for 20 minutes. All I want when I finish work is to park in my space that I paid for.

Get a few friends with trolley jacks and move it out of the way.

I live in Newcastle city centre and have to live with this problem constantly. I come in from work. Something in my private parking space. I have a signwritten van with a phone no. on it, so I block them in, go in the house and get in the bath. Without fail, the minute I do so, the phone rings, and the knobhead who's stolen my space is asking me to let him out. Depending on my mood, I tell him I'll either be out in a couple of hours, or to come back tomorrow. So far, never had the same car twice.

Whether it's two hours or tomorrow, the bath water's bloody freezing by the time I'm out.

I've had them park in front of the garage door at the same address a couple of times, which means I phone the police, tell them I intend to drag the offending vehicle into the street and alert a traffic warden, which has, on both occasions elicited the same response. " Give us the reg, we'll contact the owner ". They've never actually intimated what they would do if I carried out the threat, happily, I've never had to find out as the owners have both been contactable.
