I have got some nokian weatherproof tyres on my focus (225/45/17) and they have cracked/perished to the point where I don’t consider them safe to use. They have been used as a winter tyre rather than all year round so they haven’t had a hard life but they look terrible. The tyre wear makes them look like they have run under inflated but I have had 35psi all round in them, so a little over what the focus should have.

I have had a quick google and have seen a few other people with the same problem, has anyone on here had trouble with them and did you manage to do anything about it? I thought Nokian’s were a decent brand.

I have got photos but they are too big to load up.

I've seen big brand name tyres cracking badly at only 6 months.

It just seems par for the course these days. So 3.5 years isnt doing too badly.

Read the threads about Michelin Pilot Supersports. I think they crack for everyone within a far shorter time.

Not ideal really but it seems like it could have been worse!

Two tyres are 0416 and the other two are 4016.

They went on my dads company car as winter tyres, did about 10k, got taken off the car and went into storage in his warehouse. I bought them late 2018 did about 3k on them and again put them in storage until late 2019 and again have put on around 3k.

I know people challenged that their Michelin Pilot Supersports were unsafe, but they were told the cracks wouldn't affect the tyre.

I wasn't happy with mine, but they didn't cause any issues after cracking early.
