Following on from the discussion in the 'Vloggers - are they scammers' thread about Shmee's Merc having silver wheels not being black now, it got me thinking - are there any cars that look better with black wheels rather than silver/other?

I've seen a couple recently with silver wheels and it made me realise how few of them i've seen with silver wheels and how much better they look.

Just down to personal preference surely!?

I'd prefer the 720s with Black wheels, and I'd prefer the Aventador with different wheels!

Black Wheels have definitely been overdone and in most instances, standard silver alloys look better than black alloys but there are certain bodywork colours that just don't look quite right with silver wheels and I'd include my own car with that which I made sure had black wheels when buying.

Hopefully, the trend does start to die, I do tyre of seeing black wheels constant on cars where it really doesn't suit it.

Tire is spelt tire in your context - not tyre.

English was a standard subject when I was at school.

Both my black cars have black wheels. Don't think silver would suit them.

I wonder how spelt should be spelled?

Some might choose to spell it "wheat", especially those who favor tire for the round black things on automobiles.

Black wheels are far less popular on higher end cars than they were 2 years ago.

Hardly surprising as the shape and design of the wheel is totally lost.

Fads always date.

Style does not.

Some colours look ok with black wheels to give a stealth look, but as long as some vain morons think it is clever to post selfies on social media then I fear that the combination of white car with shiny black wheels will persist frown

Black exhaust tips are another one I'm not a fan of.

Black wheels suit certain styles/sizes and car body colours. Black exhausts don't suit anything.

Black wheels always look like they need a good clean to get rid of the brake dust to me.

As long as race cars have black wheels, people will want black road car wheels.

Mine won't be going anywhere. I don't like silver bits on modern cars personally be it chrome trim, grilles or wheels.

Mind you silver wheels always end up black for me anyway because I'm too busy driving to clean them. driving

I think black wheels are not helped by people called Wayne who rattle can the wheels on their 316i black and then Kerb them to hell so you get this silver line of kerb rash all around the perimeter.

One thing you do need to do with black wheels is dress the tyres - an old colleague of mine had a lovely Aston V12 vantage, in black with black wheels, and as good as it did look (he also had it detailed and it did look stunning) he would never dress the tyres so you ended up with weird bands of dark grey.

Nor me unless it's a Bentley or Rolls Royce.

Love the chrome mesh Bentley grilles.

I hate black wheels.

Should be made illegal.

IMO.
