Thinking about taking the chim down to Le Mans in june next year. Looking at the ad in the Sprint I'm a little confused about what ticket combination makes the most sense. I've not been there before and need some guidance on the best tickets to get / what to do etc. Any advice? TIA

Right on the form, other than the obvious details you need to pick a camp site, the price reflects the quality of amenities, your'll then need a general admission ticket for each person going, and if your a softie who doesn't want to be rubbing elbows with the frenchies and the danes then your going to need a grandstand seat, if you want to watch the Friday evening anntics in the town and have a few beers you'll need a coach ticket, hope that helps a bit

We've booked direct through the ACO for the past couple of years, and have just had back our confirmation of 6 Houx Annexe tickets for 2003. We don't bother getting admission tickets in advance as it's no problem buying them at the circuit. I recommend getting down Thursday/Friday latest to get a decent pitch and can reccommend Thurday night qualifying and the Friday pit walk.

You can call the ACO on (+33) 02 43 40 24 75 / (+33) 02 43 40 24 77 or fax on (+33) 02 43 84 47 13 there email is tickets@lemans.org

What happens is they will confirm your order and then send the tickets registered post a few weeks before the race.

www.club-arnage.com is also worth a visit with lots of good info and forums.

Go for Houx camping and the grandstand at Maison Blanche. Houx has the best facilities and is by far the most secure campsite. It's a bit of a walk to the circuit but worth it. All in my opinion of course...

Hutch..I fax my booking form this morning, like you this will be my first time (i'm a virgin hurrah). I phoned Carol at TVRCC and asked her advice on best options, she was extremely helpful if your uncertain speak to her.

Good luck

Faxed mine off to Carol today, it seems that about there's already been a 75% take up on the TVRCC allocation already .

Question for the vetrans of Le Mans, when do the majority of peeps arrive? I'm considering going out on an early ferry on the Thursday returning on the Monday, I tried a few online quotes and they vary from £150 through to £305 so how quickly do the ferries fill up at that time of year?
Have to hook up with others nearer the time for a convoy .

Harry,

We left Thursday night this year from Portsmouth and waiting to get on the ferry in the minibus thing we had was excellent as we had Lambo's Ferrari's, original Cobras, more TVRs than you could shake a stick at and lovely old green Bentleys everywhere. (You never see one of those with the hood up – do they have one?)

A great two hours or so loading up, engines being started etc – fantastic - highly recommended.

Mind you, helps if they put you on the correct ferry which they didn't in our case, although by 'complaining' we all got bunks for the night which were worth their weight etc.

Wife wants to go in the TVR next year – but it'll be a hotel for her if we go so better get booked up soon I s'pose!

Flasher, is the grandstand at Maison Blanche the one described in Sprint as Grandstand 06 (I) ?
Cheers
