Really? I've seen people want engines, but not Cerbs without engines.

I think they're both too wide. Isn't the Ford 4.6 90 degrees? One of the "features" of the AJP8 was it's narrow angle and width. The manifolds already look fairly tight, so I wouldn't want to try and squeeze something bigger in.

Porsche 928 engine? It's not as wide as the car suggests...But then it features more tubes and pipes than any given chemical factory

My vote would go for the BMW M3 lump, being a straight 6 should go in easy and 343bhp of reliable power, just need to find a stuffed M3 and blown up Cerbera

What about the BMW M5 V8, 400 reliable bhp ( AND 400 ACTUAL bhp!!!!! ) or alternatively the AMG Merc V8s for even more umph!
I love TVRs and would dearly love to own one ( a Rover engined one!!!! ). However I am becoming more and more disillusioned with them due to the reliability issues with their own engines, once the Chimaera is axed TVR will have lost a potential customer as I could not live with such unreliability ( although the exercise may well be a bonus!! ). A number of years ago when I was a naieve TVR enthusiast ( before discovering Pistonheads ) I visited my local TVR dealer and wondered why there were so many TVRs with no engines outside the service bay ( 3 Cerberas and a Tuscan ), NOW I know why!!!!
Good luck to all.
Toro.

Can't see how the LS1 would be too wide for Cerb, it is a stretch Chimaera after all, and the LS1 is smaller than the Rover V8.

The Cerbera chassis is quite different to the Chimaera/Griff in the engine bay department apparently - lots more chassis strengthening.

Toro,

I have a 40,000 mile Cerb, and previously had a Chimp on 40,000.

Neither car has given me serious issues, and apart from silly things (main engine fuse once, alarm fuse on Chimp) neither has been off the road.

As usual, people only highlight the issues. I will buy another Tiv, and believe that the fun of ownership far outweighs the problems.

We also have a far higher average day on road than a Ferrari, which is the only way to compare.

40k is this a record, you could expect 3 to 4 times that from a Porsche without a worry! I also would love a Cerbera (I think just about my perfect car) but refuse to buy because of the engine reliability (makes an RX-7's 60k between rebuild look good). So I see Cerbera with a proper engine my only way forward

Mine did 54K before needing a rebuild. The engine suffered (I think) an overheat. Could have happened to any car and so the engine design etc wasnt the issue.

I've been looking for a Cerb with no engine, even if it has damage, but insurance companies insist on sawing them in half and not letting people buy them, I nearly got hold of one but it sold in 4 hours so someone has one (thev'e probably put an AJP8 engine back in though) I just would like a Cerg that works and pretty much at a greater cost than a second hand one!!

i have to say mark that 30-40k for a rx7 sounds more like it, my mate has had one for 6 years, its mint with fsh its done 132k and has only two months ago been given its 4th rebuild, although not as dear as a cerbera, still not cheap by any means.

I have to agree on the RX-7 front. Mine went all chocolate tips on me at 40,000 (quite spectacularly actually but not necessarily at the legal limit so I am keeping my trap shut).

My mate Neil's lasted 32,000. Both were last series twin turbos. On the other hand, my aged Dad's daily smoker is a 100k n/a RX7. Mazda are so impressed they have offered to buy it off him to put in a museum!!

You don't have to go that far.. terrible Tim down at Blandford has usually got a 3 rotor racing motor for sale. When mine went pop he offered me one as an upgrade... he reckoned he could get just over 1000bhp out of it!!!
