I know sniffpetrol has started a campaign but it isn't happening fast enough.

James Allen is such a penis. He's got the kind of face you'd never tire of kicking.
Rosenthal's a dick as well.

Surely the viewing public should have some say about who presents and commentates?

I think it would be more constructive to say who you do want to present it rather than who you don't. Got any suggestions?

martin brundle and mark blundell should do the commentary, and james allen should be shot

IMO it should be Martin Brundle and Ben Edwards. Edwards is the only commentator I've heard that can get close to Murray Walker's "trousers on fire" style, and you need an exciting commentary when some of the races are so dull.

mark blundell can barely manage the pundit bit, I think he would be a terrible commentator. He doesn't even speak english properly.

IMHO Ben Edwards is a gimp, even worse than the Allen geezer

I would rather have no presenters at all than listen to James Allen. The man is a complete ass.

Oh, come on. He's not as irritating as Simon Taylor was.

Ben Edwards would get my vote.

Good as Brundle is, he is not a commentator. His job is to "comment" rather than "commentate".

exactly...

I also like John Watson as a commentator, but Ben Edwards would get my first vote.

Proabbly too latem but the idea of a shed load of people all wearing "stop the cock" t-shirts at the BGP would be great to see

I used to like Mark Cole when he did the DTM on eurosport, don't know if he has got the MW 'excitement factor' though.

As for Ben Edwards, man no way, can't abide him. I used to watch his races with the sound off.

Brundle irritates me while I find Blundell much better to listen too.

I agree but they have a business to run called 2MB and that is time consuming.

Please do not make remarks about TV Personalities being shot it is not funny in the post Jill Dando world.

I pinched the "commentator" v "comment maker" quote from Murray Walker. He used this decription to explian the difference between what he did and what James Hunt did.
Commentating is a specialist skill which needs to combine (usually), a way with words, controlled excitement, enthusiasm a deep understanding of the sport being covered and, of course, a good knowledge of the technicalities of the media they are working in (TV, radio or live PA at the venue). Most racing drivers fall down in "the way with words" department and, surprisingly, many ex-participants are not that enthusiastic about the sport that may have provided them with a good living. James Hunt used to say that he didn't become enthusiastic about F1 until AFTER he had given up driving and joined Murray in the commentary box.
Brundle is good because he does have a way with words but I think he would flounder a bit if he had to stitch an entire commentary together. Blundell definitely DOES NOT have a way with words - or, if he does, the words and sequences in which he uses them are largely unknown to most users of the English language.

Best motorsport commentator, both live and on TV was the voice of Rallycross, dear old Arthur Debenham.
Brilliant stuff....

James Allan is just bearable, but I can't think of anyone who would be outstandling better.

I'd like to see old 'Stiff Needle' allowed a go for a bit, just to see if he could hack it. Probably not though, but I can't think of anyone else with a combination media savvy and sufficient knowledge to carry it off.

Brilliant! Subtitles may be required for some.

Take your pick.

Toby Moody
Julian Ryder
Keith Huewen
Jack Burnicle
Carlton Kirby
John Watson
Allard Kalf (From the old F1 Eurosport coverage)

Plus I don't see why it should only be 2, some of the best commentary I have heard has been when there have been 3 or more, better chat and more eyes to see things happen. 2 commentators plus one star from the past relevant to the grand prix maybe.

I think it would be the best spectacle on TV. The man is a genius. Can you imagine the quality of the banter? Sid's poetic jibbering brilliance interspersed with Brundle's dead pan expert input.

Beautiful.
