First Chimaera contests TVRCC race series
Next season will see the series' first Chim
Surprisingly, a Chimaera has yet to race in the TVRCC Challenge, despite being TVR's most popular model. That's about to change with the purchase by Iain Jones of a car with the intention of racing next year. His plan is to raise the profile of both the car and the series. He's looking for sponsorship too.
Iain said, "It shows the continued divergence of the series from its Tasmin-only early days to a series that can encompass every TVR model."
Although there are plenty of Tasmins in the series, there's also a Griff and a Tuscan racer, driven by PistonHeads' own event reporter, Graham Walden.

I believe Iain intention is to run the car in Class A in virtually road trim. Basically just a roll cage, race seat, harnes, fire extinguisher and a battery cut out. Some race tyres and probably some new dampers ( after all the car had done 120k!!)
So this Should be the series first Leather trimed racer. It even includes a cd player :)
With the series governed by Power to weight the 4ltr car should fit nicely in Class A, without modding the engine.
It will be interesting to see how what is basically road car goes against the fully stripped and race prepped class A tasmins.
The Griff 500's racing are fully stripped out and run in Class B with the Turbo Tasmins and the Tuscan Challenge car ( which happens to run a 4tlr Chimaera engine !!)

I've read the dictionary definition of 'Chimaera' - (Greek Myth) . . . a monster with a lion's head, goat's body and a serpent's tail. A wild or fantastic creation of the mind, which, omitting the hairy arse pretty much describes both car and driver! A match made in Heaven. All the best Iain - God's speed!
