Hi, just a quick question I was driving today and I must admit I gambled a little bit with the lights; I believe I went through on a really late amber , it must of changed to red as soon as I crossed the line I didn’t really feel like stopping so whatever comes out of it let it be.

tHis was on a round about in south mimms; now there was a police car there sadly not behind me however to the left of me trying to enter the roundabout, I’m not sure if he had a clear view of the lights however he turned he’s blue lighfs on for a brief second and then simply turned them off, he must of changed his mind as he turned them off and drove simply past me, Didn’t even try stopping me or anything like that which he could of easily done as I was stuck at the next set of lights behind other traffic.

Now to make this clear if he wanted to pull me over he could of easily told me to follow him and come off the round about to go into south mimms services where he could have taken my details.

What are the actual chances of me getting done for this, not sure if to expect anything in the post?

I’m not looking for sympathy I done wrong and it is what it is, I can live with 3 points or possibly a course as this would be my first ever offence after passing my test 3 years ago.

None.

Probably just giving you the heads up he was there in case you hadn't seen him and did something daft like shot off at warp factor 9 or something.

Haha, I suppose time will tell, I just find it weird that he could flash up his lights and then not do anything.

Like I said it is what it is, but to my understanding he could of easily pulled me it wasn’t unsafe to do so, I could of easily followed him.

And to be honest the way the lights are positioned I don’t think he even had a clear view of them lights, I’m not sure if they need sufficient evidence to prosecute you for an offence like that or simply a word of 2 officers is enough?

My first offence aged 17 was "jumping a red light".

I got pulled and the officer said, "You jumped a red light" I replied, "It was amber officer" to which he replied, "That's the same offence and the highway code says you should stop". I then argued that it would be dangerous to attempt to stop so quickly on a wet road.. and he then said you were therefore travelling to fast for the conditions... bang to rights!

Wallop. 3 points. Lessens learnt in 1981.

I hope the cameras caught you.

You've got a real problem with traffic lights, haven't you? And with all the advice you've been given on PH, you still disregard them? Freeman of the land I suppose, traffic lights don't apply to you.

I got done there on the cameras, 3 points and a fixed penalty for jumping the lights - seems that it is one of the biggest fine generator in the london area for traffic lights. all lights have cameras on them. been trialed for a year or so now. Integrated Junction Safety Monitoring.

How do people like this go to school, and presumably pass exams and get jobs. FFS. I suppose it explains why so many people are st at their job.

Good policing.

He was making you think about your marginal driving, and letting you know you are lucky to have got away with it this time.

I had it from an unmarked car when driving a little too quick on the motorway. Fair enough - and it slowed me down.

Chances are, you're going to kill someone one day - Most likely a pedestrian who starts to cross the road, just as you decide to ignore a red light, and put your foot down instead, because you: "didn’t really feel like stopping"

This must be a long running troll as surely nobody can still keep having the same issues over & over again and wondering what's going on / asking for advice on the same thing?

Edit - slightly concerning is that these issues could be happening in an HGV / truck while the OP is driving for work based on some posts on the ones above including driving a dustbin lorry and another thread OP started asking about how the Tacho system works. Not the best vehicle to be running / jumping lights in.

Now it's clear why you ask such silly questions despite being a lorry driver who should know better. Guess what? The "ve" in "could've" and "must've" are short for have.

Cameras do not generate fines. Drivers contravening laws generate the fines for themselves.

If you'd like to organise a massive protest and undermine the effectiveness of these "fine generators" then simply persuade every driver in London to drive within the law. The fines will stop almost instantly. But be quick, before your oppressors cotton on to this method of fine avoidance, and do something to ban it...

Use of "of" when "have" is very annoying.

Some years back I was going through some lights on green. There was a filter lane to the right and a Range Rover with blacked out windows seemed to have waved a pedestrian across, despite me and other traffic in the other lane as well, all green in our direction but he was turning across the oncoming lane so had to stop. Luckily I was travelling at an appropriate speed and stopped just short of killing her.

She made no acknowledgment that she nearly got killed and just carried on.
