Home insulation seems oddly specific a cause; I couldn't imagine being that motivated I'd sit on a motorway junction for it - I was expecting XR or similar
(full-on) climate activism where there's at least some point.

I'm waiting for a splinter group campaigning for draft excluders on letter boxes before I take action.

My bungalow has pretty old central heating system and a gas fire, and not only that, gaping vents in the lounge and kitchen!
I don't use the open gas fire in the lounge so blocked the lounge vent because the draft was terrible...!
There are properties much the same, many centuries older.... not sure how they'll be made "Efficient"!
Certainly will never be cheap....!

The police should have instantly dragged them off to the side of the road and given them the hiding of their lives.

WE DEMAND

1
That the UK government immediately promises to fully fund and take responsibility for the insulation of all social housing in Britain by 2025;

2
That the UK government immediately promises to produce within four months a legally binding national plan to fully fund and take responsibility for the full low-energy and low-carbon whole-house retrofit , with no externalised costs, of all homes in Britain by 2030 as part of a just transition to full decarbonisation of all parts of society and the economy.
Is it a parody site?

I'm sure they would soon start protesting again if their demands were met and their benefits were reduced to pay for it all.

From their own master "plan"

One of the things about this kind of thing that really really pisses me off is the way that the law treats these protestors (they all have that same "look", don;t they?) - the ridiculous "hands off" business, the notion that someone that wants something can just sit down and cause god knows what mayhem.

The law needs altering to sort this sort of thing out - just drag them out of the way, if the crusty tt gets hurt then the police should be absolved of any responsibility. They got hurt due to their own actions.

You should come to Bristol. Sometimes the local council close the road for the protesters before they even get there.

I bet you they wouldn't be doing that for, for example, an anti "clean air zone" demo. Funny that.

Wrong sort of protest I'm afraid. You need to undertake one of the correct ones, like the environment, stopping rapists being deported or forcing a teacher into hiding for showing a cartoon to be given free reign.

They can be arrested for breach of the peace in Scotland.

I support peaceful protest. Go to any public park. Have a planned march on a suitable route. Stand outside parliament. Preventing the public from getting to work or hospital etc is not acceptable though.

I had insulation added to my house for free under a scheme a few years ago. This was open to a lot of people. I don't know of the take up, but it doesn't feel like its the Government's fault... (for once).

Also, homes without cavity walls are harder to insulate. I don't think £19bn would even come close.

These protesters should have their benefits cut when they're caught. If they work then sack them. I have zero sympathy for niche groups who choose to disrupt peoples' lives.

Don't the majority of these protestors live in massive houses and have enough money to not actually need to work? Then they go about blocking roads or gluing themselves to trains and inconveniencing those who have to go to work each day and are not in such a privileged position as them.

I loved the video a couple of years back where two men decided to sit on the roof of a train and were swiftly dragged down and beaten by the group of commuters who simply wanted to get to work that day.

We had one near us recently, such a shame that somebody didn't just drag her out of the way.

Bonkers. Mind you, I'd be up for free insulation. I found out it will cost £10k to insulate the walls of my 1940s home. (Unless the website I was reading is bks. If it's <£1k I'd get it done tomorrow.)

Aboslutely.

Someone's right to protest isn't the right to interfere with someone else going about their lawful business.

No, the government doesn't appear to be at fault.

Hope she got crushed in the stampede when a commuter train got in.....

I'm amazed that she wasn't. They do it because they get away with it; one minor dragging would save a lot of hassle next time.
