I want to add a cam pos sensor, for sequential operation to my DTA ecu. ( purely to remove the wasted spark function )
I need to do this urgently to try and resolve a major running problem, and cannot get in touch with DTA.

AFAIK it requires a single tooth only on the camshaft. But Ive no idea where in relation to No1 TDC this tooth must be.

Anyone any ideas ??

What sort of cam trigger do most engines use ??

Thanks, Stevie

Does tha DTA support any form of phase guessing?

If you have a dizzy, you could trim it down to leave a single lobe and use the points as a cam position sensor? (I guess you won't have a dizzy though.)

No dizzy.

Sorting the sensor and trigger is easy. I just dont know where in the cycle the DTA wants to see a trigger, in order to determine when No1, and only no1 is due to fire.

Usually you have a broad 'window' in which to position the cam sensor, typically from TDC 0-120° on the firing stroke of no.1.
