We're off for a long weekend to the MotoGP and staying in the town centre -- we'll have a car too. Basically, we'd love to sample a variety of paella and other local cuisine. Suggestions welcomed (and any other hints and tips).

The goto place for Paella in Valencia is La Pepica - it's at the beach though. Sunday lunchtime is the time go - book a table for around 2pm.

This place is also fun - a lot more central. We much preferred the Tapas bar downstairs to the restaurant upstairs. It's proper Tapas, where you eat as and when you feel like it - cold stuff is on the bar, hot things get bought round on a plate and you grab one if you like the look of it (and are hungry). When you leave they add up the number of cocktail sticks you have and that's your bill.

Yes, we had a great meal there too.

It’s a superb city, really impressive, some very interesting modern architecture on a vast scale down towards the sea. Also lots of great food - You will love it, it’s a great place

Don't drive to the track, get the train from the main train station.

If you want somewhere menorable then my suggestion is https://www.canallabistro.com/en/

Its owned by a local Michelin starred chef and I guess it is where he trains his staff and the pallates of his future customers. It is a fun place to eat and relatively inexpensive.

Not suitable if you only want pints and paella.

For fear of receiving an obvious response, why? From what I've read, traffic is organised well on race days.

I have been several times and the traffic is far from organised, especially on race day. You will have to leave the city centre at 4am to have any chance to see any of the races.

I may have to consider the train, in that case! Thankfully, I'm staying in the city centre so it should be easy.

The traffic is well managed, lots of Guardia civil closing junctions so traffic can flow etc, but there is only so much they can do with so many cars. Hence it (getting in particularly) can take time.

This year I fear will be utter carnage eek

I have never had so many people ask me 'any chance of a pass for Valencia'. People who wouldn't normally consider it. Rossi's last outing will be a busy one!

The train is a good idea for the city anyway, let alone the circuit. Valencia is a brilliant city, but traffic and parking makes using the metro the easier choice. You'll love the weekend, great circuit, great city smile

The train form the main station will make it a doddle.
You can buy all three days train tickets in advance.

I just bought a ticket for the Sunday actually, so I can chill in Valencia for 36 hours and get a feeling of the place. I've been on/off keeping up with MotoGP for the last two/three years, but I really wanted to say goodbye and thank you to Rossi, for so many years of enjoyment.

If you're staying in the centre, this place is fantastic for a spot of lunch/tapas. located in the Mercado Central - https://ricardcamarena.com/en/restaurant/central-b...
